Liked: Is in area where the Shanghainese seem to live. There are lots of cheap eating places nearby and a very lively street with lots of street food. As a women it felt fairly safe walking here in the dark in evening( although not recommended alone after 10pm) and the metro was fairly close. Free water available.

Disliked: Really difficult to find if you forget to write the address down in Mandarin. Very noisy as right next to the metro line-

Liked: Booking train tickets through workers was painless. Near tube station. Plenty of cheap street food. 3 computers almost always free. Good wifi. Vast collection of films.

Disliked: Beds were rock hard. Suspect neighbourhood (plenty of brothels nearby). Kitchen facilities a joke. Hot showers only available certain times. Gym a joke, just a bench press and exercise bike.

Liked: Feel like at home because there is a living room and a room with DVD, books, etc.. It's very nice !

Disliked: Hot water only between 20:30 and 13:00... And no hot water the second morning at 6:00AM

Liked: The hostel is 3 minutes walk from Caoyang Rd Metro St. Exit from the exit where McDonald's is, cross to where a cart selling some Taiwanese food and that meant that you are and keeping to the right. Cross road over to the Great Wall Huge Plaza. Walk along the path with the Plaza on your right. At the end of the path you will see the hostel on your left. Cross the road where there should be carts or at night a food seller. The hostel steel gate would be on your left.

Disliked: The neighbourhood is not great or clean but put it down to seeing how many Shanghainese really live. The Chinese Muslim stall on the way to the metro station (under the metro line) is quite good for noodles.

Liked: friendly staff

Disliked: for the same price you can get a much better hostel in shanghai. -in the double room for instance, there were no tv, no towels, no tea maker (all of those are standards in ALL hostel of the same price category) - safety is poor you only get a key to lock the door (not the typical magnetic card) - and the WORST: my room was like 5m away from the subway line!!! i let you imagine the noise from 6am... and you don't even get the advantage of having the station right in front of the hotel, no no it's like 10minutes walk really AVOID this hotel, I've been in 5 other different in Shanghai, all 1000 times better

Liked: Very close to the metro which could then take you anywhere you want. Also, lots of cute kittens and puppies nearby. Staff was able to help me with any questions I had about the city, and even recommend some good music to me. Overall awesome.

Liked: The staffs are very kind, helpfull and friendly. I felt at home while staying there. There are 3 PCs for use of 15 minutes for free. There are also couches and TV on the 1st floor to meet people and to relax :)The hostel is located in 5 minutes walk from a metro station and it is convinient :)I would like to stay in this hostel again when I will visit Shanghai next time.

Liked: Directly facing the Metro, but since this doesn't operate after 11pm its okay. Nice chinese foodstalls in the neighborhood, in addition to redlightdistrictlike "shops".
