Liked: Nothing!

Disliked: Everything. Dirty rooms, floor looked like it had never been cleaned. Despite having an exstensive menu, when we tried to order anything we were told 'no'. Sink sprayed water all over you feet. Seems like there's no interest in maintaining the place. I could forgive some of this if the rooms were a lot cheaper. Stay elsewhere!

Liked: It was convenient for the park, that was it.

Disliked: the staff were all unfriendly and unhelpful and I heard them making unnecessary comments about me as I can understand some Chinese and they obviously didn't think I could understand them. My room was so cold I had to sleep fully clothed and in my jacket, with hat and gloves. There was no heating despite it being freezing, and they provided minimal bedding so I took another set from a bed that wasn't being used. Also the beds were literally a plank with a blanket on. As my room was cold I had to hang out in the common area by reception where the only heating is a burning furnace that was billowing smoke, so I either had the choice of being freezing in my room, or choking in the common room with stinging eyes. This place really was a bad hostel, especially this time of year.

Liked: Vicinity of the park

Disliked: The staff - first day we came and ask for free rooms. Because we had no reservation, we were refused. In the nearby internet cafe we searched for another hostel in Jiouzh. and found out that it is possible to reserve room in MIGU hostel through hostelbookers. We reserved, went to the hostel and got our rooms. Ridiculous. Further - we arranged booking of bus tickets to Chengdu with the receptionist. She agreed, even asked what time do we want to leave but then forgot the agreeement and denied it. So we had to wake up really early to buy bus tickets. The lockers in the hostel are badly damaged as well as many other furniture and staff.

Liked: Really close to the National park, and offering food, beverages, free wifi. The value for money is really Ok for a so touristic place !

Disliked: We had the bad surprise that a lot of dorms were unavailable when we arrive, although we booked and nobody told us it was impossible to stay (moreover, when we arrived, almost all rooms were full). But the staff made a big effort to find us a room without changing the price. The toilets are also not really clean ...

Liked: This place is really convenient- only 10 min away from Jiuzhaigou entrance- great for getting into the park early to avoid the Chinese tour groups. The hostel had a power cut (quite common in that area) and their electricity was restored quite quickly using their generator. Staff are very helpful too.

Disliked: Toilets & bathroom werent that clean. I am not sure they monitor their email either- I emailed them to say I was going to arrive late but nobody EVER got back to me. I ended calling them to make sure they save my double ensuite room. Good thing I did, because the day after, some people arrived after 6pm from Chengdu but didnt let the hostel know, so they lost their beds.

Liked: It was close to the park and had a pretty balcony to sit out on. Once one of the staffers warmed up to us she was pretty friendly

Disliked: The hostel told us they could provide airport pickup from Chengdu but when we arrived at the airport they told us thatwe had to find a plane and fly to the airport in Jiuzhaigou. It was too late to book any other transportation and we had to stay somewhere else for the night . The sheets were dirty and on of our beds had green mold on the wood. There was also an animal in the ceiling that ran around all night. The bathrooms were also pretty gross. We went up to the bar to use the internet, which does not work in the rooms as advertised, and the whole staff was sitting in there watching television. They glared at us whenever we talked too loud and interupted their show. MIGU was a total disappointment

Liked: The front desk staff was friendly.

Disliked: The beds are hard. My feet could touch the wood and Im short (5"2; 1m57). The room was not clean, the floor was dusty and I wouldnt walk on it without sandals. The front desk staff didnt speak English very well. There is no restaurant at the hostel and the common area is very small and not necessarily inviting.

Liked: There was toilet peper in the bathrooms. The showers were also very nice.

Disliked: DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOSTEL! The staff was very unhelpful. We had bus tickets for 6:30am, and a staff member promised someone would be at the desk at six am to give us our 100 yuan deposit and have a taxi for us. At 6:10am, nobody was at the desk and there was no taxi either. We made our bus out of our own ingenuity, but didn't get our deposit back. On top of that, the common area was uncomfortable, and usually the available chairs were full of staff members watching TV. The common area bathroom, also, was disgusting. I would stay in a guest house where they don't speak English at all before I stayed here again.

Liked: The hostel was in a great location only a 10 minute walk from the park entrance and 1 minute from the nearest shop (which only seemed to stock food way past its sell-by date!!!) and restaurant. The hostel itself didn't have a restaurant available despite description on this site, maybe because it wasn't peak season. Room was nice and big, although very cold even with heating on, but that was fine - it's to be expected in a chinese youth hostel in a mountain area in the winter - just wrap up! I would recommend this hostel to other travellers as it is cheap enough and in a great location. However - DO NOT TRUST THE STAFF TO BOOK YOUR BUS TCKETS! We asked them on our 1st day to book our bus tickets back to Chengdu for a couple days later, and paid them for the tickets. We had actually read a review of the same hostel on another website that they had forgot to book the someone elses bus tickets, so we reminded them each day and they assured us they had booked the tickets, they just needed to collect them. Our final evening we asked them for the tickets but they said that they were coming to the bus station in the morning with us to collect the tickets, at which point alarm bells started ringing but we had no choice other than to hope for the best. Once we arrived at the bus station it turned out they hadn't bothered to pre-book our bus tickets like they told us they had, and the bus was full so we couldn't get on. We had no choice other than to hire a driver to take us to Chengdu as we would miss flights we had booked in Chengdu that evening otherwise, and the driver worked out cheaper than the cost of losing our flights. The hostel didn't help towards the cost in any way - despite the mistake being completely theirs. Although the bus station is in a different village to the hostel - it is definately worth making the journey there to book your own tickets!
