Liked: I stayed in the all-female dorm which was incredibly clean and tidy. None of the beds were bunked and each person had plenty of personal space as well as our own lamps and huge personal lockers. The room was very well-heated. There was also a bathroom ensuite and it was cleaned by staff every day. The receptionists were helpful and spoke enough English to answer simple questions. The seating area is nice but very cold in the winter as there is no heat in any place but the rooms. Oh! And you could access the wifi even in the rooms, but it was a bit slow. The location is right on a walking street with excellent western and foreign restaurants, lots of stores and vendors, and night-time food carts just a few minutes' walk away. Also walking distance from the Hangzhou Museum.

Disliked: The water in the shower was more lukewarm than hot, and no taxi (or car) can drive up directly to the hostel since it's in the middle of a walking street. If you have heavy bags, it's best to take a tuk-tuk.

Liked: Great location, really pretty, quaint little streets and not far from west lake. Lots of restaurants around to suit all budgetsfrom really cheap noodle places to hot pot, sichuan and hong kong style, mcdonalds, loads loads more. Staff were extremely helpful, going out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Disliked: Nothing tocomplain of, thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.

Liked: I loved the staff and how much they helped make our stay in Hangzhou smooth and easy. They went out of their way constantly to ensure we had everything we needed for our three children, and enjoyed playing with our little baby Oscar. The location was super beautiful beside the walking street and easy to get anywhere, beside all the amenities we needed to make our stay excellent!

Liked: The new and improved Wushanyi, amazing staff as always (except the nightguard who was a bit rude but still ok). New facilities, super clean and comfortable! So everything even better than before. Location in a nice pedestrian area, really calm. So worth the money!!

Liked: I love the location and the rural feel of the place, just a few metres from the city centre. The staff are great and the management (apparently a labrador and a couple of Siamese cats) make everyone feel very much at home.

Liked: like their environmental friendliness (with recycling bins) which does not exist in most of Chinese YHAslove their adorable pets, esp. the labrador! But it pays to keep an eye on their faeces problem.like the fact that they have a selection of (outdated) magazines available.

Disliked: No lightings outside the YH, esp the tiny alleyway outside. It's almost unsafe to walk at night, esp. when the carpark is made out of pebblestones. Also I find the floor of the YH is a bit damp for our entire stay. This may also suggest why our room would have a strange, stinky odour.

Liked: the hostel has a nice environment with trees around but a little bit far away, you have to walk about 10-15 mins from the main road, and still some more walk from the west lake. at night it is very quiet too. but it is near the wushan square with shops and food, so it really depends on your needs.

Liked: Did not like my stay here one bit. What is not advertised is that the hostel caters to Chinese tourists, and if you're not a Chinese tourist, you're not catered to. It's loud, not the cleanest (nor the dirtiest), food is decent but greasy and salty, and staff couldn't care less about you if you aren't Chinese. Lastly, the location is abominable. If you're like me, you see the fact that this is off the lake and out of the immediate tourist zone and consider that a good thing. But it's REALLY off the lake, it's totally obscure and absolute nightmare to find, over a dozen locals I showed the address to (in Mandarin characters) had never heard of the street. Save yourself several headaches and stay at Mingtown. Hands down.

Liked: we did not like : we must buy soap, shampoo, tooth brushes, and we must claim to have big towel (never changed during 9 days) and toilet paper...To book 2 bus tickets of 130 Y, they take 55 Y of commission.....
