Liked: very nice and helpfull staff, good location near to a pagoda and the east lake

Disliked: air con not working in the dormitory, no hot water in the shower !!! (they tell you to let it run a few minutes before showering but 15min later it was cold), it's true that we hear noises from the school in the morning but it was ok for me

Liked: The staff was friendly - very helpful with directing me places to see and what is wort my time. They were good with recommendations for night clubs and bars and wrote down directions in Chinese for cab drivers. Amazing. The resturant has great western breakfast - I can only imagine how amazing it would be in the summer.

Liked: Great value for money, straight in front of the lake, beautifully decorated, cozy and welcoming atmosphere, small dorms with ensuite bathrooms, very easy to reach from the train station, bus stop 30 around the corner and immerse in the green.

Liked: Excellent location at the West Lake. Great value and very quiet spot. Excellent public to everywhere. Food can be ordered at the hostel at a good price (no restaurants nearby). One of the best hostels i stayed at. Highly recommended.

Disliked: All is well. No negative aspects.

Liked: FANTASTIC - such good value, lovely staff, and a good breakfast on offer too. The location next to the West Lake couldn't have been better. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay - I would recommend Westlake Youth Hostel to absolutely anyone.

Liked: Great place! It's already my second stay there. Peaceful area south to West Lake, in front of Lei Feng pagoda. Clean rooms, everything you need, nice lounge. And I'm dreaming of staying once in one of those twin rooms on the second floor, the ones with a window on the ceiling! I'm definitely coming back in the future.

Liked: The staff were really helpful and spoke a good level of English. The food at the hostel is great, although the western food is quite expensive! The main area of the hostel is great for chilling out, watching a movie, using the Internet and meeting other guests. We were able to hire bikes from The hostel too at a reasonable price. It is extremely close to the lake which we really enjoyed!

Disliked: it was quite hard to find. Once you get off the y2 bus carry on walking the same way as the traffic cross over a side road (its an entrance to a hotel) and then cross the main road. there will be a side road on your left walk down there and you are at the hostel there is a yellow sign outside. Also the hostel is next door to a school, not a problem at weekends but on weekdays it is noisy from about 7/7.30 am.

Liked: Next to Jinci Temple for morning chanting at 4am & school children next door were great fun doing their exercises. Warm homely atmosphere & great fun.

Liked: Very inexpensive for a dorm bed when comparison with Beijing. Good location for the lake; not much more than a 5 minute walk. Shower was hot.

Disliked: Both minor: You're not able to go in/out of the city in an evening without using the bus/a taxi. Food; slightly expensive in the hostel - not much else on offer locally, i.e. within 10 mins walk.

Liked: It is a great location near the West Lake. It was easy to get around by bus and close to most attractions. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was decent. It had a good atmosphere and the rooms were nice.

Disliked: Our bathroom smelled extremely bad. It was hard to be in the room. Also there is a school next door that does morning exercises and recess at 7:45 every morning with loud music playing for an hour. You could not sleep in. We were not aware of that before making our reservation.

Liked: Good location to the lake area, cheap cab ride from the train station. Staff was pretty helpful. Hot showers.

Disliked: Although it was close to the lake, it was a good 20-30 minute walk to the "downtown" area, for food and bars.

Liked: Comfortable, helpful n trustworthy staff.

Disliked: Kinda hard to find on the 1st time, should put the hostel name at the road side (if the regulation permits). The hostel should offer transport arrangement, e.g. having taxi / rented car contact.

Liked: + bike rental + internet for 4 Yuan/hour, but was in fact free + ensuite bathrooms + close to lake

Liked: Good location, central and quiet. Good dorm, big bed, clean bathroom, good shower.

Disliked: The food is average, could improve. The social space a bit tight.

Liked: Location is really great - just 5 minutes from the downtown by foot. Nearest bike rental station is just in about 100 meters from the hostel and Xihu is even nearer. The hostel is beatiful, clean and some of the staff speak really good English. They are very helpful and friendly too. Food is also OK and cheap. Skylight rooms are great.

Disliked: Their food is OK but sometmes they don`t have some products so during our 18-days stay we were not lucky enough to try some diches from the menu. Sometimes they have problems with Internet, but it`s OK for the hostel.

Liked: Nice, cosy and relaxed atmosphere. Good, enthousiast and helpful staff. Locations' is good, as long as you hire a bicycle or accept a little walk.

Liked: our room (double room) was really comfortable, and the hostel is located in a pretty quiet area.

Disliked: it takes a while to get to the city centre by walk, but there are bus stops nearby. if you want to eat at the hostel, make sure that the kitchen hasn't just been cleaned, otherwise you will need to have dinner somewhere else!

Liked: Liked everything:all rooms are ensuite, we were almost in a hotel, not hostel. Staff was extremely helpful, even told us where to get free map(cuz the map in hostel costs 8 yuan). Really good choice, because is right next to the lake, also there's convenient bus to Carrefour&the handcrafts' street. In rooms we even had kettle+cups for tea, toilet paper in bathroom, always hot water&clean. Loved it!

Disliked: Only thing is the internet is not free, but if you have your laptop, wifi is free. The rest is great.

Liked: The location is really nice which near to west lake, and arrangement of hosel is quite special for young people. They lent me a free towel as well.

Disliked: There is no free map for travelers! When we travel a whole day with a full sweaty body, they did not allow us to take a shower after check out. Breakfast is really expensive, and also not convenient for eating outside. First day checked in a little bit delay bcz cleaning not completed.
