Liked: Good atmosphere with very helpful staff. Felt nice and chilled and a very reassuring sense of fellow backpackers helping each other out with recomendations and group discounts.

Disliked: A bit over priced for the beer/breakfast. Wouldn't recommend eating there but as a 'base camp' for further exploration, it's great.

Liked: Great place to stay, it's located at the heart of guilin, rooms are clean and comfortable and the lobby is a perfect place to chill or have some fun.

Disliked: No breakfast included :(

Liked: Good location, helpfull personel, good aditional services - meals, travel informations, LP guides available

Disliked: Not suitable for travelling on winter time, very cold rooms - only third room had working (heating) air-con and it was still not warm enough in my room.

Liked: The lady owner and staff ( mostly Students) all speak excellent English and have excellent local knowledge of just about everything. They are the most helpful staff we have ever come across - ( We are a middle aged couple and this was our first time to even enter a hostel!) The atmosphere and staff was better than most 3-4 star hotels which we have used to date. You can have dinner for two in the Sheraton across the road for $12.00 and save yourself $60 on accommodation. Super breakfast - Overall a real gem

Disliked: Bare concrete floors on stairs and rooms - they should tile them. We were there in Nov -Dec 2011 and it was freezing ( about 3degrees). The room air con heating did not work but they did give us an electric blanket. They do not make up the rooms each day but maybe this is the norm in a hostel.

Disliked: Chinese will to serve clients is generally not very good, and not particularly good in this place either. But in places like this you at least get service if you ask, in many other places its not sure.

Liked: Backstreet Hostel has a great location and good prices.

Disliked: Not much of a common area Our triple room was small and sparse with no furniture except a small shelf Breakfast was mediocre

Liked: The private room I had was facing the street - so couldn't sleep cos it was loud outside! Basic hostel - good location.

Liked: Staff was great. They will help you in anything you need. Locations is pretty good as well. Rooms were clean so nothing to really complain about

Disliked: We only had some problems when we arrived because we got to the hostel at about 2:00am and the guy who is at the reception does not speak english at all. Not a big problem though.

Liked: good hostel, in the center of Guilin. Clean and friendly staff. Big room and bathroom. Good breakfast.

Liked: This hostel is well located near to the Li River and the shopping street. It's also easy to wandering around the two lakes during the evening. A lot of unexpensive restaurant surround that area. The hostel provides relevant informations. You can book tours to the rice terraces and Yangshuo.

Disliked: The rooms and the shower are clean, the personnel is helpful. The place is fine but random

Liked: The staff at this hostel were incredible. They could not have done more to help us, even sitting on the internet with us for an hour and helping us find the trains we needed then writing the instructions out in Chinese to help us buy them at the station. They also offer local trips and can help with arranging other hostels and exploring the region. The hostel was very clean, with nice communal facilities, comfy beds and good food. I highly recommend this hostel.

Liked: Staff is kind

Disliked: The Aircord are not cool and room not clear properly got smell in the room, no lift. the room with the picture is big diffrence I think the picture is when new.

Liked: - the staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious and have character - rather quiet

Disliked: - if you order food there, it takes a LONG time to arrive so plan ahead if you need to catch a tour and hope of having breakfast beforehand.
