Liked: Jade Emu was a wonderful stay in terms of location, facilities and staff. Nicholas was especially helpful and was eager to answer my many questions. The owner was also friendly, asking me questions about where I was headed and giving me advice about Tiger Leaping Gorge. Also, when one of the headsets broke while I was using Skype he personally went out and bought a new one. The computers in the lounge has a proxy that allows access to all the blocked sites in China.

Disliked: The common area with the TV and DVDs was a little dark and uninviting.

Liked: Amazing rooms! As a family of 6 we had 3 ensuite rooms all great value for money. The hostel has more services and quirky extras than you could think of. If you want to learn pool this is the place for you! The staff are well practised!

Liked: Favorite place so far. So good I returned for my birthday and had an excellent time. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly. You'll feel looked after. The luxuory room is worth the extra pennies. I could live here.

Liked: has accessibility to Facebook and a wide variety of DVDs for a lazy afternoon. It also provides cheaper rates and transportation to various attractions.

Liked: Staff was helpful, there is a nice courtyard where it's possible to eat, a pool table. Everything was clean.

Disliked: it's a little bit far from the old town and you have to cross the highway. There is just 2 toilet and 1 shower to share.

Liked: Everything. The staff are amazing, so friendly. I arrived feeling terrible having been ill the night before and they upgraded me to a private room for no extra oost as they could see I needed my own space to recover. The food was of a decent quality and hostel in a great location, apart from the main road you have to cross with no lights but its rarely busy.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Rooms are not only perfectly clean and well equiped and spacious but the staff is extremely attentive and sympathic. Amongst the best hostel I have ever stayed.

Disliked: ... we finaly had to quit back home.

Liked: Very well run hostel, great staff and the beds and rooms are immaculate. Lots of nice little touches like provided shower gel and shampoo. Internet access is great and all the food is really good quality, I found it hard to get breakfast anywhere else!

Disliked: Really very little; its not the most vibrant and active place, but thats not what its about, its a lovely sanctuary that will provide a great base for activity.

Liked: clean rooms, hot shower ensuite, good location, helpfull and friendly staff

Disliked: You have to cross THE Tibet/Yunnan highway to get to THE oldtown. Especially at night it is à bit dangerous.

Liked: This was one of the best hostels we have ever stayed in! It was in a great location, was really clean, staff were very friendly and helpful and there was a lovely atmosphere in the hostel.

Liked: The 3 bed dorm with private bathroom was excellent value for money!

Disliked: It's located just outside of the Old Town but only across the road from one of the entrance gates.

Liked: Great facilities, great staff (helped with everything from washing to stomach bugs), and a generally great atmosphere. Best showers in China!

Disliked: Nothing really. Was pretty quiet while we were here but the pool table and bar area are the best we've seen yet.

Liked: One of the nicest hostels we've stayed at in China. Great atmosphere, friendly owner and staff. Big double room, with all the little things including DVD player, heater, kettle, etc. Super comfy bed. It's a very laid back place and a short walk across the street to the old town.

Disliked: Laundry is a bit expensive at 2 RMB per item. Should be priced per load since it's done in a machine anyways. I never understand this kind of laundry pricing.

Liked: The owners are so great! They treated me like family, and gave me a free room upgrade for no other reason than there was no one else staying there. Also the tours they offer save you tons of cash.

Liked: Incredibly well run! Really chilled out and friendly. Treat yourself to the 'deluxe private room', it's like a 4 star hotel! Satellite TV, DVD player, massive comfy bed and spotlessly clean.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Great atmosphere and brilliant staff. The hosts, Dave and Song, are brilliant, among the best I've encountered in years of backpacking around Asia.
