Great location in the very centre of Chengdu (at the same time the Shaanxi Jie is a very quiet street). The staff speaks good English and is very helpful and competent. The rooms are very big. The garden in the courtyard is a very nice place to chat.

It's a old chinese building with a lot of character, ideally located, with a nice garden and very friendly staff, speaking perfect English

The staff were helpful but there was only a tea house so nowhere to eat or meet other travellers

The staff were helpful and it was useful to be able to book panda tours etc. No real places to socialise with other travellers and rooms very cold in winter and dated.

The qualification of the, good english speaking, staff. The more this staff was very kind and extremely helpfull. They can organize for the travelers each kind of tour, from a panda tour or a private car excursion, to an adventurous trekking in Tibet ( a speciality from the house). Meals can be taken in the numerous and cheap Chinese restaurants not more than 100m far. Western Breakfast can be arranged by the staff, in a mini restaurant 50 m from the hostel.
The private rooms are situated in an hotel ( Chinese style) in the backyard of the hostel, are spacious, clean and benefit of a hotel service. What can you really want more ?

The people at the reception are speaking a good english. They offer a lot of interesting tours and they are very helpful if there are questions or support is needed. There is free Internet access. The location of the guesthouse is nearby the old centre of Chengdu and other interesting locations. We have been there for 9 days.

Very nice back yard. Rooms quiet, sheld from the traffic. Easy to attend tours. Very kind and helpful staff!! Very cheap.
Close to the nice Renmin Park.

Free internet, pleasant garden to sit in.
If you book a Yantzi cruise make sure you check every detail of what is included and what happens if your booking is changed

It was conviently located and clean. The only problem was that they did not receive my booking from Hostelbookers; however, they arranged a bed for me (although it was a cot) and honored my deposit receipt.

it ie clean and quite and the staff speak good english which takes a lot of the pressure off being in such a country like china.they delt with any problems at once.and most of all there was always someone you could conntact.

Service of staff at the Sam's Guesthouse office was fantastic. What they promised they delivered with friendly service and advice. English spoken by staff was excellent. This is the the third year I have travelled to Chengdu and used Sam's. I can fully reccommend this location, both for value for money and great and friendly service.

Staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. One staff member even loaned me some money when I came up short paying my taxi from the airport. They tried to make my stay comfortable in every way.
