Liked: We have stayed several times before and have recommended it to others who have also since stayed. It is in a fantastic location with incredibly helpful and friendly staff. It really couldn't be any cleaner!

Disliked: Beds are typically extra firm as in all of China, could do with an extra layer of topper.

Liked: Best location,in the center of Beijing,10 minutes walk to the Tian'anMen Square and Forbidden City. The room is good,even the dorm has private bathroom and shower. Helpful staff.

Liked: I generally enjoyed my stay at this hostel (which is more like a hotel). The location is good - walking distance from the Forbidden City, though the walk to the closest subway station is a solid 15 minute walk (my recommendation is to take the bus, a 2 minute walk from the hotel, and if you get a transit card, each bus ride is only 0.40 RMB, and the bus ride is a 5 minute ride to the subway station). The service is generally good (the housekeeping staff in general were extremely helpful and welcoming). Breakfast was a little lacking, but not intolerable. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

Disliked: My only complaints were: 1) My room for the first few nights had plumbing problems and smelled unpleasant. After reporting the problem to the hotel, they very happily switched me to a new room. The hotel should have noticed the plumbing problem in preparing the room and in housekeeping everyday (due to the smell) but didn't, but at least they switched me to a new room without any debate. 2) My first room was overly dark at night. The hallways are also rather dark. Even though I felt safe (because the neighbourhood was clearly very safe), having more lights in the hallway would make guests feel safer. 3) I booked an acrobatics show through the hotel. The guide/driver responsible for taking me to the show and buying my ticket didn't purchase the ticket in advance, and was almost unable to get a ticket for me once we arrived. Luckily, at the very last minute, he was able to get a ticket, but I was seated close to the back because most of the seats were already full by the time I went. The hotel should have ensured that I would have a ticket. Other than those complaints, I had a good stay at this hotel/hostel.

Liked: It was well located even if the street is very dark at night. The staff is very friendy and speak good engish.

Disliked: The room is pretty small and the window was hard to open to get some fresh air. I expected more from the breakfast.

Liked: Central location, close to public transport, walking distance to many places, quiet hostel, helpful staff, good breakfast, complimentary emperor and empress costumes to take photos.

Disliked: Smell of sewer in bathroom.

Liked: This is a fantastic hostel/hotel very clean and in a great location. It is only about 15 mins walk form the forbidden city and less than 10mins from the main shopping street.. The girls on reception were always there to help especially LYDIA who spoke very good english and was always very friendly.

Disliked: Antony left no negative feedback.

Liked: Excellent location, with helpfull and friendly staff.

Disliked: The showers in the dorm rooms were open so it made the entire bathroom floor very wet, however they were allways hot and had a decent pressure.

Liked: This hostel was like a small hotel. The rooms were small but very clean, towels were changed every day. We had the breakfast there, and it was small but very tasty. Stuff was very helpful.

Liked: Location is the big plus here. Very clean and room service done daily and to satisfaction. Front desk staff friendly and helpful. Every one also speaks to a degree English, which is unusual in China.

Disliked: Hotel is used by a lot of Chinese so it can get noisy at nights, but nothing a pair of earplugs cannot fix. There was also a slight smell of drainage/sewage on entering the room. Keep the bathroom door closed and run aircon for 10 minutes and it should be OK. Maybe it was just our room.

Disliked: The property is hard to find if following the directions from hostelbookers. It is on the East side of Forbidden city - not the west side!
