Liked: the bar and the location

Disliked: the dirty toilets but that's mostly the fault of the guests. but the could clean it more often and react quicker after a complain is filed

Liked: I guess it was reasoanbly close to Sanlitun area where the party people go. Its got a maccas across the road and some healthy fruit shop on the opposite side I go also. Along the main road theres heaps of local chinese food and restaurants if you like but I wanted western food only. They have PCs you can pay to use internet which I liked.

Disliked: nothing advertised in the room menu was available. Like the so called breakfast it was nonexistent. Felt like it was written up for decoration. The toilet flush was atrocious. It didnt work they leave note saying to not flush toilet paper since it would clog and it did. Being a hostel I was hoping to meet other people but it was so dead noone was around at any time.

Liked: the people at the reception is real nice, they helped my friends and me to communicate with the agency.

Disliked: they made us put the sheets ourselves. shouldnt it be part of their service, to provide us with a made bed and blanket???

Liked: Travel agency is very helpful and it a great is advantage of this hostel.

Disliked: The washing machine was broken and our clothes were totally wet after washing. The dryer was broken as well. Room with no windows and the light provided was very poor. A/C didn't work properly. But those are just minor drawbacks.

Liked: Nice clean hostel, you could probably do better in terms of location, yet we'd stay there again.

Disliked: Washing machines available, yet no dryers, so everybody just puts there stuff up the lines. Not a good idea on a windy day:(

Liked: It's a great location, I wanted somewhere specifically that was on the bus route between Wangfujing and Andingmen to allow me to get the bus to either easily and not have to get the subway, and this lived up to that just fine. The rooms are nice and clean but a little dim - you can't read in them that easily even with the bedside and overhead lights both on. The bar area is good, with great comfy seats to relax in, or watch the movie in the evenings.

Disliked: Sometimes the bar music and noise is a bit loud in the rooms if you're staying on the second floor (where all the dorms and standard non-ensuite private rooms are), not too bad though. The bar menu is a little overpriced but worth it for the convenience. Agree with previous reviewers that the staff aren't great. They're friendly enough but they won't go out of their way to help you. They didn't even make the bed for me when I arrived, just thrust a pile of duvet covers, sheets and pillowcases at me.

Liked: the common area was quite ok - marked everything 0 due to poor staff

Disliked: 20 mins to check in, 25 mins to check out - very rude staff member who muttered chinese curse words under her breath at us when we asked her to hurry up as she was taking ages and we had a train to catch - completely unacceptable at an international youth hostel. we asked her what she said - she replied cockily that we could ask her manager - who turned out spoke no english. directions from beijing west are wrong - bus did not exist - had to go long way round getting bus to metro because of their poor directions

Liked: The beer is cheaper than most hostels, it's in an alright location, and the dorm is cheap. Other than that, the place doesn't have much going for it.

Disliked: The atmosphere isn't that great, and the common room is pretty gloomy. Also, every night at least one of the TVs in the common area is on, and they are LOUD and annoying if you don't feel like watching badly dubbed (in Chinese) American movies or bad KTV competitions. The dorms aren't really that nice either, but if you do stay here MAKE SURE YOU BOOK ONLINE ahead of time. When we arrived they claimed the cheapest dorm was full, which we later found out was a lie! I also noticed that they made us pay 10 yuan more than the price listed online for the dorm we did end up in. They'd just wanted us to spend more money in their hostel and I had to speak with the staff at reception for about half an hour before they would finally let me switch dormitories. In a normal situation I would've just changed hostels, but I was applying for a visa at the time and had no passport to check into a different place.

Liked: The new rooms are quite nice, the older ones are ok too (I had one like that). Its a nice place, with a comfortable common room.

Disliked: The washing rooms are too small for the amount of people, and too dirty.
