Liked: Location is fantastic. Very close to the subway and also within walking distance of some cool neighborhoods. Also very quiet, mellow, and clean.

Disliked: Bathroom was simple and a bit small. No more free breakfast. A little overpriced for the deluxe private room, considering that you don't get the same amenities as you would get for a similarly priced hotel in Beijing (no TV, no soap in the bathroom, no shampoo/conditioner).

Liked: I liked that this Hostel located in the old part of Beijing - in one of the Hutongs area but near the subway station. It was only couple of minutes walk to one of the bigger streets with several authentic restaurants where locals had breakfast, a very good bakery where you could order coffee and enjoy it with pastry in upstairs area. Hostel offers food too but it was more western style. The lobby was small but very cozy with little tables and sofas, with bit aquarium and nice decorations. The staff spoke good English and were very helpful. You can use a laundry machine. The way to our room went through the corridor with flowers. We were there in October for two days and I am not sure how they heat the lobby area during the winter time. I do not remember the door between the lobby and open up corridor.

Disliked: No complains.

Liked: This is definitely one of the most awesome hostels I have ever been to in China. This courtyard hostel offered a clean (but as for courtyard hostels in general, small) dorm with not too hard and not too soft sleepers. The staff is friendly and has an eye for details such as facilities to dry one's towel. The communal area is deceorated with much efforts (plants, paintings, furniture) and taste. It feels comfortable even if you don't spend much time in the communal area. The washroom was clean and exceeding the "standards" I have experienced in other places. The location is convenient. There is only one internet terminal, but the internet is fast and the software installed is chosen with care!

Disliked: That I needed to leave.

Liked: It looks unnoticeable from the outside but is like a really comfy oasis once inside. Very friendly staff and at least when I was there are mixed group of really open minded guests.

Disliked: Nothing really. The rooms COULD be a bit bigger, but then again you don't go to a hostel to stay the day locked up in your room, right?

Liked: The property had a nice, comfortable lobby, with a pool table, islander music, couches, tables and chairs for seating or dining, books and magazines, and live plants. The skylight roof allowed for natural light, and everyone was very helpful in accomadating travelers. The bathrooms has western styled toilets and stocked toilet paper. The beds came with clean linens and a warm comforter. There are also individual lights for each bunk which came in handy.

Disliked: The size of the dorm rooms were somewhat small for six people. There was barely any space to move about, but if all you need is a comfortable place to sleep, then it's great.

Liked: Its location: in a typical hutong, away from big roads and noise. Its character: you feel home as soon you enter the place. We arrived at 1am and were warmly greeted. The decoration is very nice - modern but yet traditional, with warm colours, cosy. The flowers in the yard are lovely. Its staff: Jaimy, Zoe, Jack and the crew were very nice and helpful. They all speak good English. Its rooms (double rooms in the yard): pretty, comfortable and very quiet (which is not common in Beijing...). We were a group of people from 29 to 79 years old and everyone loved their stay at Peking Yard.

Disliked: There is nothing we disliked.

Disliked: the room rates and the prices of food and drinks may are a little higher unfortunately no 3- or 4-bed dorm rooms are available 6-bed room was a 7-bed room, the room was really too small, for keeping all luggages of the others, a too small window in this room led to bad air all the time, room was only seldom cleaned wi-fi too slow

Liked: The staff was really friendly, the location was great, the beds were comfy, and the bathrooms were clean. Definitely will stay here again when I return to Beijing!

Disliked: It was difficult to get to from the airport - I would definitely put the address in Chinese on their website! However, they do NOT have a free breakfast. Also, while living in a hutong is really neat, there's a lot of noise starting at sunrise - people going up and down the street yelling, dogs fighting. It's a good wakeup call and it really reminds you that you're in China, but just be aware of it.

Liked: The staff spoke English which made interacting easier. The hostel is located near a subway station which allowed easy travel around the city. Also, the hostel itself is very pretty, with a lot of vegetation, flowers, and warm light to make it a nice retreat after a day of exploring. I would recommend this hostel to anyone.

Disliked: The prices for food were a little higher than what you would pay at a restaurant down the street or in the hutong.

Liked: The common area is really good - relaxing, comfortable, well lit and nicely decorated. The atmosphere is good - it's a pleasant place to come back to after a day in the city. It's close to the subway. The showers are powerful and hot, and there was hot water every time we used them. Beers are quite cheap.

Disliked: Dorm rooms are very small - there's not really enough room for bags, as the lockers aren't large enough to fit a rucksack/suitcase in, and there's no room under the beds. The dorms aren't very clean. The floor underneath the beds doesn't look like it's ever been cleaned. The staff are not hugely helpful. They answer your questions and can speak English, but don't venture advice or make suggestions. We've stayed in places where the staff have taken an active interest in our trip and given us good tips about the locality. We had to move room part way through our stay, which is annoying but sometimes happens - it's in the T&Cs. However, we had to leave our bags in storage for several hours, then were allocated beds in separate rooms (we're travelling as a couple). Another bed in the room I was in had been empty that day, but was given to a solo traveller. A small thing but it did detract from our stay. While the beer is cheap, the food and drinks here are expensive. There's no kitchen, no free breakfast, no tea or coffee making facilities, and you can't eat your own food in the hostel. If you want a cup of tea it'll cost you £1.50. A chocolate bar is more than twice the price it is in the shop down the road.

Liked: The hostel is located in a very nice area in a calm side street of Hutong. Because of that you don`t hear the traffic noise at all so it is really a quite oasis from the hectic and loud city. We also liked the facilities and the atmosphere was very comfortable and relaxed. Staff at the reception was very friendly and spoke very good English. They booked train tickets for us and also gave a lot of advices where to go. We also went on the organised trip to the Great Wall of Mutianyu and the Ming Tombs. Though the Ming Tombs were very crowded our guide was very good. You can have all kind of drinks, decent cocktails included, as well as some snacks and warm food in the common area. The WiFi in the common area is free and there are many magazines and books to read. DVDs and board games can be rented and watched or played together with fellow guests. Also there is a pool table that is free of charge. Lockers are available for free, too. You get a room card for your room and because of the security installations you feel very safe. We didn`t make use of the lockers all the time and also left valuables in our room, what is of course not recommended, but erverything was just fine. Our room was tidy, clean and nicely equiped. The cleaning lady was very nice and cleaned our room and bathroom every day. Towels were changed as frequently as we needed. There is a lovely yard garten where you can have a rest and smokers can enjoy their cigarettes. We would stay there any time again and recommend it to our friends.

Disliked: We didn`t really dislike anything but have a few suggestions for improvement. It would have been nice to have something like drawers or a closet in the room to stow the luggage especially clothes. But since the rooms are not too large themselves it probably requires some inventiveness. Also printing the address of the hostel in Chinese on the room confirmation would help finding the hostel quicker if you take a taxi of have to ask for the way. The prices for extra services like meals, laundry, organised tours or bike rental could be a little lower considering that they are in China. But for western wallets no problem I guess.
