Liked: The location is excellent, in a nice hutong area (though the building is not traditional in that sense). The nice things about the hutongs isn't the style anyway, it's the fact that this is where the locals dwell. On the same street are nice places to buy food, and to the east and round the corner is a nice little bakery.The hostel is not perfectly run. There are a few of the staff members that are competent and make things happen. The others mess things up. The level of english ranges from complete ignorance to understandable. Food at the hostel is not price-worthy, but Internet is free! Who wants to eat at the hostel anyway? Missing half the culture...Go to Beijing! It's a very nice town, especially if you manage to avoid the touristy places.
