Liked: the first day We should to take a room that we don´t reserve (double twin) and I request the double private ensuite...the second day we got this room but the shower must be repaired two times!!!

Liked: Great value for the capital, located near a metro station & a short walk into town. Nearby good local restaurant with English translations. Free train pick up was a winner!

Liked: Excellent location - close to the Forbidden City. They have an elevator. That's great! Located on a very quiet street with small convenience stores and restaurants nearby.

Liked: As I was on a tight budget and the New Dragon is the cheapest one out there, I decided to disregard the low ratings and check the place out myself. I wish I hadn't... The staff is not unfriendly, but the property itself is way past its expiration date. It's old, dilapidated, cold, dirty and smelly. The toilets are AWFUL, the worst smell ever, seriously foul-smelling. The first day I had a cold shower though the second day it was warm again. Regardless, when it's below freezing outside, that's just not cool. The rooms were cold too, but the airconditioning blowing out warm(ish) air 24/7 helped. I stayed at the 4 dorm which had 4 single beds (a little too cozy for my liking though, no privacy). There were 4 lockers, of which only one actually still had a key. There are small lockers in the reception area, but you have to pay every time you open it.As always in China, expect to be woken up early in the morning by staff shouting around in the hallways. Also, the restaurant/bar/common area is bit unwelcoming as a couple of Chinese staff like to hang out there and have loud conversations. They have a bit too much staff, quite honestly.Final observation: there are only 3 computers available for the entire hostel, one of which was broken the whole time. Great that it's free, but the problem is some people just stay behind the computer for hours, completely disregarding the fact that other people might want to use it as well.For a few RMB more you can find a better place with better ratings, which would be my recommendation. I wouldn't stay here again.

Liked: The hostel is in a very convenient location. The staff is very friendly and they speak English. They picked me up from the train station for free.

Liked: I have traveled China more than 10 times. Generally, the biggest problem in Chinese hotel is that receptions cannot speak English. But staffs of this hotel spoke English fluently. They were very helpful and friendly. Location is quite nice, it takes less than 15 minutes to Wang Fu Jing street on foot. Subway station also near. There were lots of restaurant near there. The room was cheap but clean. This point is opposite from other accommodation in Beijing like backpackers. I think everyone, especially foreigners, can feel comfortable to stay this hotel. I think, if this is your first time to travel Beijing, you should stay there.

Liked: Cheap, moderately clean, relatively safe, but computers provided for free-internet access are only 3 pcs and no regulation on how long each person could use it (to ensure a fair sharing among users). In general, the staff expressed a hospitality even though a certain persons looked not. BTW, I just stayed at this hostel 3 nights instead of 5.

Liked: The rooms were very well done and clean, along with an amazing heater for the winter. It did keep us warm. Nice staff, and even though we did not need it we saw their english skills come into play with other customers and it was superb.

Liked: atmosphere was good...met quite a few people. Hostel is on a quiet street close to everything...and the staff is friendly and very helpful...just don't rent their bicycles or you won't be able to sit down for a week!
