Liked: This location was great. I loved renting a bike and biking around the local hutongs as well as Houhai Lake. Really close to a subway station which I recommend as an affordable and air conditioned mode of transportation. Best part? The free evening get togethers. When I was there, there was a free BBQ and beer night, a free Peking duck evening and a free dumplings night. AMAZING. Internet is free but in China the service is pretty shit, which can't be helped. If you are a foreigner who likes to party totally check out Sanlitun or Houhai. Happy Dragon generally has other foreigners at the bar who migrate there during the night. Make some friends and take advantage of cheap drinks. Awesome times ten. Great staff, great English, great showers, free shampoo and body wash and universal plug sockets for your electronics. Amazing. Don't let Beijing get you down though. Just don't buy crap, don't be fooled, barter until you cry and don't even bother with silk street or Wanfujing. Check them out if you want but they are totally over priced and also a lot of stalls are run by workers who are told to not sell below a price that is way too high in the first price.

Disliked: The air conditioner could have been stronger and you can't escape the mozzies. So bring the repellent.

Liked: Everything from the superfriendly, helpful and happy staff to the nice, clean rooms and fun bar made our stay at Happy Dragon perfekt. Close to the Dongsi Subway, several big shopping streets and easy to find. Special thanks to John in the bar, Peach, Amanda and all the other helpful people at the hostel. A perfect hostel! Liked: Ask for a room at the back as the ones that face the street/alley have early morning market noise and late night drinking/eating noise from the restaurant that sets up shop on the footpath outside.

Liked: The staff is very kind. Everything is really clean. The location is very good: in a calm neighboorhood, at 30 min by walk to the Forbidden city.There are a bar restaurant in the hostel: the food is very good.We spent a very good stay in this place. The atmosphere is very nice.Thank you Happy Dragon Hostel!

Liked: a good hostel, there's no kitchen or common room which is'nt good but there's a bar to meet people. Its about 12 yeun for a beer there but the spot next door sells them for 4 so we just went there. We booked a tour to the great wall with the hostel which was good but a bit of a shambles, when i told the manager what had happened he gave me free breakfast so he's pretty good to everyone. overall a good hostel.

Liked: The staff are wonderful. Sally is very nice and always eager to help with your chinese and asks how you are. Rooms are great, 24 hour hot water. Bar food is good, more western food than chinese but lots of places to eat out around anyway. Subway stop is very close by and make getting to central Beijing easy. Would love to come back one day.

Liked: Very friendly and helpfull staff. They organize various tours to the major sights in and around Beijing and also book train tickets for you.The Rooms are large, the restaurant/bar is a great place to meet people (food and drinks are good too) and the hostel itself is centrally located (close to Dongsi metro station, about 20 minutes walk to Forbidden City).

Liked: Happy Dragon is an outstanding hostel. Amazing atmosphere and staff who were more than helpful with any of our requests or queries. Room was on the small side but did everything it was supposed to. Clean bathroom, bedroom & linen. No hesitations in recommending to anyone.

Liked: Happy Dragon Hostel is within reach of many of the major tourist attractions, shopping areas and within close walking distance of two major subway lines. The managment team and staff are very friendly and accomodating. While I stayed there I felt like a member of a large extended family. It's a very cousy place that offers great value for your money. I am definitely going back to Happy Dragon the next time I'm in Beijing.
