Liked: Nice, clean place. Very helpful staff, although 'opening hours' is not their speciality. ;-) Very good, central location but Beijing is a huge city and you'll have to take the subway anyway

Liked: The location is less than 10 minutes walk from a metro station. Some staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Disliked: Some staff members were not as cheerful as one may hope for at such a place. It would be nice if oyu could bring a cup of coffee to your room from the bar and how about letting one substitute the free coffee (voucher) for a tea, I mean what's a tea bag cost?

Liked: Great location. Good book exchange.

Disliked: Paper thin walls, loud sex next door. Bar too expensive. 10 yuan for a small beer is ridiculous.

Liked: it was nice and clean and also a fun place to stay. There is a little pub in the hostel where you can get cheap beer but not so good gin & tonic. I definitely would recommend this place.

Liked: the staff- they helped us a lot specially in booking our train tickets. Even though they don't smile a lot.. once you asked for help, they go out of their way to help. Most can understand and speak English. the CLEAN rooms.. love it!

Disliked: the walls outside the rooms...the doodles on the walls looked dirty ( but not really dirty) and sometimes scary..some looks like blood on the wall. The rooms though are kept clean everyday. If they do repaint the walls this hostel can be at par with some business hotels in the area

Liked: I LOVED staying at this hostel. With Beijing being my first stop I have found this place to be amazingly welcoming, accommodating and friendly. The staff are fantastic and a lot of love goes out to Amanda, John, Sally, Flower and Petal! Not to mention Lee the owner who treated us all extremely well on my birthday and during the hostel's 2nd year birthday.Bottom line is, if you're coming to Beijing come and stay here!!!

Disliked: The only minor thing that I'd change about this place is how hard the beds are. Kinda made my arms and chest ache as I tend to sleep in the feotal position. Other than this our stay was perfect.

Liked: Very nice and friendly staff. Good value for the money. Good location.

Disliked: Sometimes very noisy from the bar (loudly music and talking) after 11 p m disturbing guests who want to sleep. The staff have to learn to control these situations when guests cannot behave due to too much drinking.

Disliked: Dont order the burger at the bar! Its not a burger, its a bun with a cold slice of ham and bacon with some salad. Why would they do this to me? WHY?!

Liked: I like the location, many sights are within easy reach, walking distance.

Disliked: They do not speak English much. They are not well organised (they do not keep record of the excursions which have already been paid).

Liked: Staff was very friendly, but only a few people were able to book train tickets and offer help. Some of the people you asked them to book train tickets, but then they have not done it.

Liked: I, like a bunch of people there picked it because it was a lot cheaper than most in Beijing but the more expensive ones would want to be pretty impressive because Happy Dragon had all you needed. Bar was small but a top little joint with good food and decently priced drinks. Staff are awesome - Sally especially is a champion. It's a short walk to the forbidden city, subway is just down the street, has markets outside in the morning, they can hook you up tickets for just about anything. Overall, sweet joint

Disliked: No common room except for the bar, which is very noisy at night. Could do with somewhere to chill out and chat to people.

Liked: It was a nice place, quite good location, helpful staff.

Disliked: They don't have a common area, except for the bar which isn't really designed to meet new people. So unless you have nice roommates like I did, it will be hard to find fellow solo-travelers.
