Liked: Clean, warm rooms, nice bar.

Disliked: Expensive and disappointing meals, boring surroundings (unless you're there to party in Sanlitun), noisy - too party-orientated. My main complaint is the Internet - wires in the room not working, and Wi-Fi going down, sometimes for days.

Liked: The Hostel is full of life and vibrant, location is a plus if you into night life. The friendliness of the front house staff and always taking a step ahead makes it all different. I initially booked for just 3days but end up staying extra 4 more days.

Disliked: The food is abit overcharged i felt after what i got for 4daysbreakfast continiously. the sausages was always over cooked (dried) and a strip of bacon looks like it was preheated from left overs. hashbrown over deep fried. Maybe the chef need bit more lesson on how to serve fresh food. ah not forgettin Muesli it was just a waste of money. Apart from the restaurant side i was very happy with my stay in Hostel

Liked: The food was quite good

Disliked: The rooms were sparse for the money paid and you could hear other people in thier rooms The noise - expect to find other guests shouting and making noise at all hours The location - 15- 20minutes walk to the nearest metro

Liked: This is a fantastic hostel for partying as it's close to the Sanlitun Village and the bar in the hostel itself is well equipped and well run. Had a great time, would definitely go back!

Disliked: It's a party hostel through and through so if you want a good night's sleep get a private room :)

Liked: The excellent, friendly, helpful staff. The diversity of guests & the good atmosphere generated by both. The food was also good & the free internet access so incredibly useful. I would highly recommend Sanlitun Hostel for these reasons.

Disliked: The rooms weren't kept very clean (window cills were filthy and coated anything you put on them with dirt) & under the beds/bunks there was also a lot of dust/dirt which invariably ended up on your belongings.

Liked: Very helpful and friendly stuff, nice common area includes a bar/cafe, pool table, etc, nice interior decorations too, cosy couches...Let me keep my bags in the luggage room for the whole day (after checkout) even though i only stayed one night, got me a taxi and helped carrying the bags when i was leaving...can't recall anything negative abt the hostel)

Disliked: nothing

Liked: Free pool table, good food, cheap bar and the cheap room prices.

Disliked: The music in the bar can be a bit loud at night.

Liked: The staff was friendly, rooms clean and location is quite good.

Disliked: There were problems with water and heating systems. The breakfast arrived 45 minutes after ordering, it took them 20 minutes to make hot chocolate.

Liked: The rooms are very large and extremely clean. Beds are large and very comfortable. It looks like it has been recently renovated. Restaurant/bar/lounge area is very large with a lot of food options. It's located very close to bar street. For the location and quality, its an incredible price.

Liked: Awesome hostel. Great atmosphere and great bar. Staff are very helpful with booking activities and equally so if you want to do things on your own. Fantastic whether you're on your own or with a big group.

Disliked: A bit of a party hostel (especially on weekends) so not somewhere for those who want to a quiet relaxing break!

Liked: Great bar and common rooms; friendly staff; very cheap prices. The food served was excellent, if a little overpriced. Overall a great place to stay.

Disliked: The bed's were very hard due to a very thin mattress. Also, as a non smoker the bar area could be quite uncomfortable due to everybody smoking.

Liked: Location.

Disliked: There was an extensive amount black mold in the bathroom around the top of the sink, the base of the sink, toilet and to a lesser extent around the edges of the floor where it meets the wall. Given the design of the shower in the bathroom, where basically everything gets wet, it is not a surprise there is such a huge amount of mold. Cleaning procedures should be changed so that all affected areas are scrubbed weekly with a bleach solution, or more often if the mold grows fast. This should be given a top priority as mold has been proven to be a major health hazard.

Liked: Great atmosphere, great location. Spotless rooms and bathrooms. Staff really friendly and helpful, i had my purse stolen (not in the hostel) and the staff let me use the computer for free so i could call my bank. Will 100% stay there again!

Liked: We really enjoyed staying here! It was a great warm place for us to hang out in Beijing for a few days. Most notable things was that they clean your bathrooms everyday and give you fresh towels and toilet paper. The staff are extremely friendly and as someone who has spent a lot of time in China, found that they could answer all my questions and requests about the local area. I was recommended this hotel, and I would highly recommend it to others as well. Only one small negative is that in the very cold weather, it was quite a walk to the warmth of the subway.

Liked: Very good location. The staff are funny and friendly. All the facilities are very good. The restaurant inside the hostel is very good and it's an excellent facility for us.The room is clean and the bed is good.

Liked: The majority of the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. They helped me carry my bags all the way to the 4th floor and managed to negotiate a spare room for me. There is also an area to air your laundry if you ask the staff nicely in Chinese. The room is very clean and there are cleaning ladies out all the time. Linen is included and they provided extra blankets when asked. There's also a cute rabbit and dog in the reception area.

Disliked: After staying at some other hostels/guesthouses in Shanghai, we were surprised that drinking water is not provided. My first impression was very bad due to a lack of empathy from some members of staff. No heating during the day. It was hard to find as the path to the hostel is obscured by construction work.
