Liked: This is my second stay at Qianmen Hostel and I am very pleased with my experience! The staff is extremely helpful, the room was great (they even upgraded our room at no charge), and I love the traditional atmosphere. The location is unbeatable and they have great breakfast food available to order.

Disliked: The breakfast/coffee is a little on the pricier side but it is tasty and you don't have to buy these things. We have a triple ensuite so there is a toilet and shower in our room which is very convenient but the glass covering that separates the bathroom from the rest of the room is very transparent so there is no privacy to use the facilities.

Liked: Great location

Disliked: The heat in the room was virtually nonexistent. I was there in November and it was freezing. I was so cold I had to wear extra clothes to sleep.

Liked: Location was fantastic next to Tienenmen Square. Helpful Staff. Atmostphere of main courtyard.

Disliked: Toilet did not flush. The shower / wet room flooded. Both issues rectified when queried.

Liked: The location is fantastic and really easy to find. The bar is cheap and the courtyard is a really nice place to drink and meet other travellers. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Disliked: The tours they offer are a bit overpriced for what you get, but they are convenient.

Liked: The location is good, very close to Metro and main square, the staff are helpful. Rooms are a little basic but generally clean and no real complaints

Disliked: The tours and shows on offer were a little expensive. The great wall is easily done by yourself (and extremely cheap) and the Kung fu show is a lot cheaper if you look for tickets online

Liked: I came here with my 12 year old son and we had a great stay. Location is the best feature for this hostel. It is super close to the subway and other attractions. Great food close by as well and saved a ton of money on cab fair. The western breakfast is the bomb especially after being in China for over a month. Good selection of people from young to old from all over the world in the hostel and the atmosphere was wonderful. I would recommend this to other people. Staff could all speak pretty good English and were helpful. I noticed that other people checking in were from other hostels in the area. I think this has a reputation for being one of the better ones in the city.

Disliked: The beds are a bit hard but after being in China for a while I realized that even in the 5 stars the beds are hard so no way around that. No other complaints to report.

Liked: This hostel is okay for staying. Toilet and sheets are clean. The location is great. Staff is helpful but they can't understand very complicated english. Their attitude is nice. I arrived and they said my room originally booked was full and they arranged me for another room for the same price. They have a lamp for every bed in shared rooms, this gives a huge benefit for not disturbing the ones who are asleep. Public computers are slow but still accessible. I understand that no things can go perfect so Qianmen Hostel is still a good place to stay in.

Disliked: Toilet is located on the ground floor, so if you stay in the 3rd floor you have to walk all the way down(with no lights in the dark) in order to pee or shower. The hostel is very dark when there is no sun. So mind your steps. Even the rooms are dark. As the page said, there is no lockers or slippers for guests. The general feeling of the place looks dusty and old. But at least the toilet and sheets are clean. So even though this hostel is not the best in BJ, it is okay for a short stay.

Liked: I loved the classic hutong look of the place and the breakfast.

Disliked: They should say that towels are not actually 50 kuai, but rather only a deposit of 50 kuai. I'm sure more people would rent towels if they knew they were a 10 kuai rental.

Liked: The location is super, and the building is beautiful. The hot water in the showers was great and the wifi (when it worked) was useful.

Disliked: I ended up staying for a week and this is what I found: the walls are paper thin upstairs and noise travels - especially in the rooms with courtyards on either side. For the price, I expected somewhere I could sleep without hearing other's people's conversations as though they were in the room with me. One set of 3 toilets (not the cleanest) isn't enough - especially as they're quite far and down a flights of stairs from some of the rooms. The staff wasn't very friendly, nor was English a strong suit. Also, the owner's family's babies were all over the place. I don't mind babies, but when you have 2 or more wailing at once, it can be trying.

Liked: I like that was really clouse to the forbiden city, on an old historic house. And recepcionists were helpfull

Disliked: I didn't like as much that they haven't got cheap excursions.

Liked: Great location

Disliked: Not enough lockers to put valuables, only a few in the main reception. However, the staff did look after my laptop for me all week with no problem.

Liked: Pretty close to the station; About 10mins walk from qianmen station. Located in the main street which makes you feel safe. Only costs about $8 per night.

Disliked: Very unclean bathroom and shower room. I didn't even want to get into the shower booth without taking my shoes off. At the bathroom, i dropped my glasses and picked it up right away and there was freakin big spider on it! Can you even imagine how dirty it was?

Liked: Great location, friendly social atmosphere, incredibly helpful staff and cheap beer.

Disliked: Have to go outside for Toilets/showers and we found the Great Wall excursions cheaper outside of the hostel.

Liked: The place was cheap but clean and the food was really good. The beers was also really cheap and the AC was excellent in the rooms. The hostel is only a 5 minute walk from one of the main metro station and also very close by to Tianmen square and the forbidden city. All round, we had an excellent time there.

Disliked: The staff at times were not the most friendly and there was little grasp of english. The bed was also really hard.
