Liked: Friendly staff and manager. Efforts by staff to speak and understand english. The only place in china that I experienced this including a large hotel in Xi an.

Liked: This was a great hostel overall but the best thing about it is the location - very very close to Tiananmen Square but also very near lots of the characterful little alleys that make Beijing such a great city. The building itself is also really nice - an old house with large inner courtyards. The breakfasts are great (delicious porridge and yoghurt!) and the staff generally spoke good english. I'd definitely recommend this place, and easily the nicest/least sterile YHA-brand hostel I've ever seen.

Liked: the beds were soooo good! :-) Moreover, the whole atmosphere, staff, location - it was very nice! The only thing: the toilet and the bathroom are located outside, so I would not take this hostel during the cold winter months, if you don't like freezing ;-)

Liked: It was great...the staff is so friendly, the hostel is so familiar, the food so good and the location perfect, close to everything. They have the perfect tour to the great wall...if you can, take it!

Liked: The staff was helpful, the location was central, and the old, historic building was fun. I did not like the fact that they did not have women's only dorms, which I feel is an important safety factor. However, they found me a smaller, slightly more expensive dorm room that happened to have only women, which I appreciated.

Liked: very pretty place, very friendly staff. we arrived in the middle of the night, night before our reservation. they made no fuss about it and everything was great!restaurant of hostel a bit pricey
