Liked: Excellent Location next to Tianmen Square. Surrounded by nice, traditional and exciting Hutongs with good and cheap restaurants and shopping. Funny place to socialize and exchange experience with other travellers.

Liked: The location is amazing! The building also maintains "Old Beijing" charm. The staff members are extremely friendly and the hostel is safe and clean. I took 28 US university students to Beijing and we stayed for 3 nights and had a fantastic experience at Qian Men Hostel. Even the hostel's restaurant provided tasty Western and Chinese dishes. I highly recommend the Qian Men to anyone and everyone.

Liked: This hostel is only a few minutes walk from Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. There's also a good shopping street just opposite. My only complaint is that there's only one bathroom and its down a dark alley on the other side the hostel. The air con also didnt work.

Liked: The only two good things about the hostel is that it is very close to Tienanmen Square, the Forbidden City, and the Subway station. It ends there. The biggest problem w/ transportation that most cab drivers had no idea where we were located. Luckily we had a Mandarin speaker with us or it would have been a worse experience. While our second room on the third floor was decent, the room on the first floor was deemed "the cave" because of its crumbling brick walls, lack of decent lighting and a scary floor in the bathroom. For 25 dollars/night for a hostel (and paying the same price for the rooms) expected more than this.

Liked: Qianmen's atmosphere was low-key and relaxed. It was a nice place to come back to at the end of a day around the bustling city of Beijing. The staff was helpful and very accomodating as well. I'd definitely recommend this place in a heartbeat.

Liked: Room was cramped and hot. Matress was really bad. Shower and toilet very unappealing. Breakfast is good. Nice courtyard. Too expensive!

Liked: The Great Wall trip is excellent, the location is central to much of the city, the building itself is beautiful, clean and full of character and organized in a way that promotes meeting people. The Acrobatics organized trip is terrible but that sort of thing should be easy to book on your own if you want. Over all, an excellent hostel.

Liked: I've stayed in a lot of hostels and this by far the best. It was clean, has a great location, friendly helpful staff, hot water and cheap beer! A GREAT place to stay and meet people.

Liked: The heating was good, the food, and a friendly dog! The only problem was on the great wall trip from jinshanling to simatai the lunch which was included was very inadequate. Btween 4 people (3 of them grown men) there was one bowl of rice and 1 meat dish and 2 veg dishes. The trip cost a lot and after that trek we atleast expected a good meal.

Liked: Location of this hostel provides great access to public transport i.e. bus, taxi and subway. Also within walking distance is Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City.

Liked: Location was good. only bad thing was the toilets were down the stairs, across the open courtyard and round the corner, in the winter you freeze walking over there. however they are always clean and the showers are always hot.

Liked: The staff are genuinely very nice, friendly, helpful (Manager Kane, John, Helen) even when we were leaving, they were very helpful to us. The location is indeed very near the tourist sites and the local tour to the Great Wall of China was affordable. The room assigned to us was big enough to accomodate 3 persons.
