Liked: The courtyard is pretty and well kept. It feels like a small escape from the city scene and really secure. The staff speaks English well and offers assistance whenever possible.

Liked: The staff--they all without exception were most helpful and friendly. Staff working the desk are mostly if not all university students who speak English well and are enthusiastic about their work and most anxious to please and be helpful. The location was terrific. Easy access by bus to Forbidden City area and subway. Great place to walk and enjoy the environment of the Chinese people in local shops and on the street. Lake area within walking distance with many attractions and boat rides.I felt comfortable and at home at the hostel and in the neighborhood.

Liked: Great walking tour of the Great Wall from Jinshanling to Simatai; no shopping stop offs like so many other tours. Also, staff was very helpful about providing local bus info to get to sights to cut down on transport costs.

Liked: I mostly liked the very friendly staff and the good atmosphere, they helped me a lot with the organisation of my holidays and gave me all the help you need in China as a foreigner.The location of the hostel is very nice, because it is situated in a typical Hutong, an all Chinese neigbourhood. Its about 30 min. walk to the forbidden city.

Liked: Everything! We have been travelling for 5 months now around the world and have stayed in MANY hostels. This one has been the best. All the amenities -- internet, food, book exchange, laundry -- plus the most friendly and helpful staff we have ever met. To top it off, the courtyard house setting is beautiful. Would HIGHLY recommend.

Liked: The staff are very friendly and helpful, the courtyard is gorgeous and it is great to stay in a traditional Beijing hutong. A really cute little youth hostel where I made loads of friends.
