About Allegretto B&B
The area is where wealthy English and German immigrants lived in the 19th century, but today many of their grand old houses - some like Allegretto with ceilings four metres high - have been restored for visitors to enjoy. Cerro Alegre is a safe haven for visitors who come for its bars, restaurants, funicular railways, pretty streets and panoramic views of the bay.
Allegretto is literally just around the corner from the bars, restaurants and boutiques that are most popular with visitors to Valparaiso. It is English-owned and run and, in keeping with the age of the house, much of the furniture is antique.
In the communal sitting room area there is a piano, a subbuteo table football game, a 1960 jukebox stocked with rock and pop classics, and a jigsaw always in progress on the table in front of the fire.
Our B&B is a friendly, family-run place, with all the conveniences and facilities you would expect. Most of our guests tend to be couples, but we also welcome children. Our reception is open between 9 am and 10 pm, those arriving after reception closes should call first.
Almost all our rooms have private bathrooms. There is wifi internet, a communal kitchen, a large dining area, and laundry facilities. Breakfast is included in the price.
The privates rooms are:
Double room - double bed with ensuite bathroom (one on the ground floor with access to a small patio and the other one on the second floor with view of neighbourhood gardens).
Triple room - double bed and single bed with ensuite bathroom (located on the first floor with view to the Lautaro Rosas street).
Deluxe double room - king-size double bed with the house's original bathroom with chequerboard floor tiles and antique cast iron bathtub.
Twin room - two single bunk beds with shared bathroom. Located on the second floor.
Dormitory room - six bunk beds with ensuite bathroom, lookers, and access to a small patio.
Allegretto is perfectly-located from which to explore Valparaiso. We are in the heart of UNESCO’s Heritage of the Humanity Zone, five minutes walk from the funicular railway “Ascensor Concepción” and “Ascensor Reina Victoria” which connects Cerro Alegre to the town centre with its banking and shopping districts, and port area. We are also close to the buses and trains stations, the main bus station is a 15 minute bus or taxi ride away. Viña del Mar, Reñaca, Concón and Casablanca Valley are easy day-trips.
