Our Hostel is a friendly, comfortable and fun place run by two young American (don't hold that against us!!), located near the town centre, all tourist attractions, & transport connections. We are by far the funnest hostel in all Valparaiso -- backpackers testaments prove it!

The Yoyo is a hostel for travelers run by travelers. We are proudly the CHEAPEST hostel in all of Valparaiso, and as you can tell by the reviews here, the most fun as well. (oh, and sorry that Chile is soo expensive for all you travelers coming from Argentina, Peru, and Bolivia -- that's not our fault!! at least we still try to keep it real and cheap!!)

It seems that Valparaiso these days has been overtaken by more than 30 (!) hostels, with at least 10 opening this summer alone. We were one of the first, have been here for five years now, and definitely know the city better than anyone else. While we know you do have a choice in your hosteling experience, don't be one of the unlucky who stay somewhere else and regret it. El Yoyo forever!!

In the summer we are famous for our BBQs (a few times a week), our weekend keg parties with the best local beer around, trips to secret beaches, taking everyone to grreat concerts, and just having fun....


El Yoyo is run by two kids from the States (don't hold that against us--things are changing for the better!!)--and our Chilean and French friends-- and we know what the backpacker is looking for: cheap accommodation, a friendly and fun atmosphere, and help learning the secrets of the city. All the staff is young and fun, with the eldest topping out at the extreme age of 31 -- whoa old! -- and the rest all bi-and-tri-lingual kids in their 20s.

The Yoyo has all you could ever ask for in a hostel: Comfy beds, hot showers 24/7, breakfast ( fruit, bread, butter, jam, EGGS, tea and coffee) included in the price and served until 11:00 (and sometimes later), weekly summer BBQ´s, a spacious and fully equipped kitchen, lockers for all!!, free internet (a terminal in the lobby as well as wireless internet throughout the house), a bar room for socializing, a TV room with cable and dvd, towels, no lockouts, no curfew, late late checkout till noon, free luggage storage etc, etc, etc.

We aren't a hotel though -- and know that. You may have to wait 5 minutes for the bathroom, the house is a bit creaky in parts, and there is no TV in your room. But the benefits of the communal environment and fun friendly people (and not to mention the price!!) faaar outweigh the comforts of some generic hotel or a bit-too-quiet B&B. You can get a good nights sleep in a great bed at home ... while in South America, meet some people, have a blast, live a little. And that's how we do it here at El Yoyo...

We are located in the heart of Valparaiso, in walking distance from the main sites, nightlife, super markets, fresh food markets, metro and buses. We are 10-15 minutes by public transportation from some of Chile´s nicest beaches.

Valparaiso is home to some of South America´s best nightlife. Characterized by its lively atmosphere,The Yoyo serves as a gateway to the best places to party, and groups of guests and staff often go out on the town Thursday through Saturday (outings on other days are quite likely as well). The young, all-English, Spanish-speaking and French-speaking staff is knowledgeable about the city and can always point you in the right direction to points of interest, restaurants, bars, beaches etc.
