Liked: Perfect location, close to metro, walking distance to cento area and bellavista. Safe street. Super friendly staff. Room was clean, comfy bed and great shower. Nice area to hang out. Hostel is well decorated and funky. Breakfast includes fresh fruit,yoghurt,bread,home made jam, coffee and fresh juice(diff each day). Would stay again.

Disliked: Bit of street noise, but with such a Central location this is expected.No common fridge or kitchen. Sell alcohol at hostel, so feel guilty bringing your own.

Liked: The heating system in our room was awsome!! perfect!! very warm and the matrimonial bed was VERY comfortable.

Disliked: With my wife were looking for economical, clean but not fancy, secure and comfortable private room for one night and we chose The Rio Amazonas on Plaza Italia becuase is well located but that´s means noisy until late in the evening because the traffic starts again early in the morning, very noise from the Av. Vicuña Makena. Friendliness of staff and clean rooms, that´s all folcks!! We miss this “home from home feeling” and a nice conversation with the owners. Breakfast was simple and adequate but appealing home made juice. We miss the real coffee.

Liked: beautiful, characteristic place. breakfast was nice (fresh juice and bread from bakery) and staff was helpfull (their english was ok)

Liked: Wonderful place, great start to Santiago. Staff very helpful. They get allot of returning guests and I am not surprized. Has character too. 11/10!!

Liked: Staff spoke English and were very helpful. Location is excellent. Recommed this hostel.

Liked: Wonderful hostel! Great place to stay and definitely worth the money. The location was excellent (3 min walk to Metro) though at night the street is dark (but the hostel is well-lighted). The breakfast was good except the orange juice needs improvement (had no taste at all). Overall, I would stay here again.

Liked: Great place to stay. Good breakfast, facilities available, including a minibar. Location close to an underground station, what was very helpful to reach citycenter. If I come back to Santiago I definitely will give preference to this hostel.

Liked: Rio Amazonas is a charming hostel located in the heart of Santiago next to the Metro and the nearby restaurant and arts neighborhood known as Bella Vista. The location makes it superb, but the people who work at the hostel make it worth staying there. I suffered a kidney stone attack at 3:00 in the morning. Luis, at the desk, became a lifeline with information on the best clinic to go to and even flagged down a taxi to take me there.Rio Amazonas is excellent in all respects.

Liked: It was very cosy with a familary touch and a wonderfull lttle garden where you could relax, smoke your pipe and meet other travelers. And the pretty colours the use on walls and bedsheet.
