Liked: Genuinely friendly folk (especially Maria), good included breakfast, hot water, very clean, big rooms, quiet location, nice outdoor space

Liked: The rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable. The thing that makes this place so popular are the lovely, friendly and sweet staff. Maria is just lovely and so friendly and smiley. The owner and receptionist were very helpful recommending places to eat and visit.

Disliked: It's not a cheap hostel but it's on a par with other hostels of a similar standard in San Pedro de Atacama. The decor isnt as interesting as some others. We stayed a La Ruca next door for 2 nights and the decor here is nicer and it has a lovely outdoor social area with hammocks which Campo Base lacks. However, Campo Base wins on friendly staff!

Liked: Maria (the only employee besides the family who owns the hostel) makes all the atmosphere of the hostel. She's fun, attentive, careful and does a great job. The common areas and private rooms are always clean and there is plenty of internet access. Breakfast is very good.

Disliked: The only downside is that they will try to make you buy the tours and programmes through the agencies which they work and this may be annoying. Don't get pressured and go research by your own in the numerous agencies in the city.

Liked: Quite location, good breakfast

Disliked: The owner was quite moody. The shared bathroom was far from the rooms. It was the only one with the toilet and shower in one room which was quite inconvenient.

Liked: The staff are lovely and the okace is very clean.It is the best breakfast I have had in South America with scrambled eggs made to order, fruit salad, cereal, yogurt and bread and jam plus tea and coffee.The staff were very helpful. It also had the best bathroom and shower I have come across in our entire trip - scalding hot water and powerful pressure. The owners of the hostel also rented us their 4x4 for a very reasonable price for the day and we took it, under their advice, to see the mountain lakes, salt flats and valley of the moon. See the sights in style and stay here!

Liked: The people who run the hostel are amazing: Hugo, the owner, is lovely and caring, Nico is cool, fun, books trips, explains evrything that is on offer and helps you with whatever question you come up with. And Mari, the heart and soul of the place, is just one bunch of smiles! The place is clean, the showers are hot, the hammocks are brilliant and the beds ... really comfy - me gusta!

Liked: Close to the downtown core, clean, lots of hot water, great breakfasts (thank you Marie), helpful advice (thank you Hugo), great organization and tour booking (thank you Nicolas) - the staff always greeted you with a friendly smile and went out of their way to make sure your stay was stress free !!!!

Disliked: The only complaint is that it was sometimes difficult to regulate the water temperature in the shower .... perhaps it is an issue throughout all of San Pedro ?!?!?

Liked: We have stayed at many hostels throughout the world and this would have to be one of our favourites. This is simply because Nicolas was one of the best hosts we have come across (and he spoke fluent English which is great for the non Spanish speakers out there like us). The rooms where large and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast was cereal, cheese and fruit salad, with eggs cooked upon request. Free WiFi and relaxed atmosphere. Advice and honest feedback from Nicolas on activities to do in and around San Pedro where provided (we do recommend Extreme Limitex for the 3 day Slat Flats Tour and the Geyers Tours that Nicholas booked for us). Basically if you are looking for a hostel in San Pedro - look no further as we felt right at home.

Disliked: Cold Shower during the afternoon - but this is typical of all hostels in San Pedro. All guests we spoke to had hot showers first thing in the morning.

Liked: Extremely clean rooms, cosy atmosphere. Very helpful/ informative staff. You can book everything you would like to do in San Pedro from the hostel (tours/onward bus journeys). Good breakfast.

Liked: The owner Pancho is really friendly and helpful, he will book tours for you at a lower price than you can find elsewhere, with a good company. A great breakfast is included. the rooms are cosy and friendly, with a family home atmosphere rather than a big hostel feel. It is kept really clean, there is free, working WiFi and bikes to hire.

Liked: Stayed in this hostel in May 2011 and it is a great hostel, I would definately recommend staying here. The place is clean and the beds are very comfy. Staff excellent and extremely helpful and the breakfast (which was included in my price) was excellent. All in all a great place to stay in San Pedro de Atacama.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike really.
