Liked: Good value for money. Friendly staff.

Disliked: The common room is the family kitchen, not much space. Not that close to the city center but within walking distance.

Liked: It's more a homestay : the family is here, and you have to know you won't be alone. But it's a good place.

Disliked: Appart from the kitchen, no common area. Quite far from the center (15'), but was ok for us.

Liked: This is home away from home! Don't go there expecting hostel full of loud people - this is an oasis! Betty offers a cosy room, warm kitchen and huge fluffy towels. The house is only few blocks from the sea, few blocks from the centre of town, big supermercado is about 7 blocks away, 10min walk to Sur bus depot. Location wise is absolutely fine. We had a very comfy bed, shower is hot, free wifi internet fast and most of all great company! We will defo remember this place as it was unique and very charming. Betty also takes c/c.

Liked: Cosy and amazinglly clean hotel with a very homey feeling to it. The bed in the room felt even better then my bed back home... The owner was really nice and although she didnt understand english she still made an effort to help us ayway she can. The breakfast was basic but delicious. I would definatelly go baclk.

Disliked: It's not a place to meet people. Located 15 minutes from the.town square and feels more like you're staying at someones house, which is nice if you want something quiet but not if you.want to meet people and share tips from your trip

Liked: The woman who greeted me was nice but not very much of a help for the tours.

Disliked: They had left-overs for breakfast. I waited almost 2 hrs for infomation on any tour but got nothing so i went to the downtown to look for one.The place all around had so many dogs out in the street.

Liked: The hostal is owned by really nice people. We got in an accident with our rental car. They did a lot to help us and even gave us a piece of pie to brighten us up. The bed is the best bed we slept in in SA.

Liked: We arrived in Punta Arenas in a hail storm so by the time we walked to Hostel Betty's we were pretty wet, and hoping for a nice warm room. Unfortunately the staff didn't think we had a booking, and we spent half an hour convincing them that we did. In the end they only believed us because i got out my laptop and showed them the booking. The whole time they were not helpful and were in no hurry, despite us being wet and cold. They then put us in a room and told us we might have to move later in the day to another room. Not the most welcoming environment, especially after a long bus ride. The hostel itself had no real common area, but the rooms were clean and decent.

Liked: It is more like a "home" rather than a hostel. The lady owner is extremely helpful. It's a bit away from the centre, but is located in a very quiet area. Just 1 minutes walk to see the fireworks on New Year's Eve.

Liked: Would recommend to everyone. Super clean, cozy, really comfy beds, great in-room heating, cable TV in- room!! with lots of english channels, wi-fi in-room which was really quick. There is breakfast too. Exceptional value for money and felt like home. One of the top hostels we've stayed at in Sth America. Thanks Betty!

Liked: This place was a really welcome break from bigger hostels and it felt like we were guests in Betty's home more than anything else! Excellent brekkie with homemade cake, and sky tv in the room! Excellent value.

Liked: It was like arriving home. Betty and her staff were great. We returned to the hostel to our bed being made (unexpected) and our washing done and it would have been ironed if we had allowed. Do not be put off by the nieghbourhood, it is safe and friendly. The restaurant La Marmita was recommended but it is not for the budget traveler or for vegetarians. Best eating in town we found by the port about 150 meters west of the old clock and port entrance in the fish market building. There is a series of tiny restaurants, again don't be put off by looks, second one in belongs to Pricila and there you will have a feast of the most divine mussel soup, they call paella, with hot bread and spicy salsa, for very little, take your own beer. Hostel Betty is close to town despite what you may read. We would stay here again without hesitation. Enjoy.

Liked: This hostel was great. It is a 10 minute walk to the main aquare but that is not too bad. It is the cleanest hostel I have ever seen and the kitchen was large and really well equipped. Only drawback was that Betty did not speak English but we managed OK. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a nice, clean, quiet hostel,
