We offer rooms with free use of kitchen and cosy wooden cabins (private cabins for 2 up to 5 people; ask in advance or see Special Offers).

Our eco-lodge is by the sea, with the Huelmo Island opposite and among native forest.
Huelmo is a starting point to visit the Lake District, to go to Chiloé Island or where just chill out before embarking to Patagonia or after crossing from Argentina.
But above all, it is a scenic place to relax and to explore trekking, rowing across the bay
or even snorkeling in this calm waters...Wherever you go, you will admire the native flora surrounding and the great variety of birds.

Staying in Huelmo is a rural and intercultural exchange, you can meet the locals who will show you their crafts as boat carpenter, knitting wool artisan, mussels farmer…and you can participate in daily life: learning how to fish salmons, picking up berries from the forest, or just making the bread together, or cutting firewood, for example.
We make our own bread, fruit cakes, jams... Guests can use the traditional southern wood stove to cook. It is possible to get free-range eggs, salmon and seafood from the villagers. Also, you can fish by yourself, using a fishing net along the seaside.

But if you look for restaurants, TV, internet or souvenir shops, you will not find them here, because Huelmo is not a tourist-like destination.

We are accessible by bus from Puerto Montt´s Terminal. The trip takes about 45 minutes. Services almost every hour.

THE ANTI-SERVICIOS: What is not provided

-TV, internet, phone: we suggest you forget everything and sit on the terrace facing the sea, hoping that the tide rises and you imagine that you sail away.
-Piped music: instead just open the windows and listen to the sea breeze and the birds.
-Nightlife in the bars: in fact the night here is very attractive; go out onto the balcony or go down to the beach and contemplate the enormous number of stars in the absolute silence of the night.
-Jacuzzi: to relax, take a dip in the sea where perhaps you will be the only person.
-Washing machine: clothes are washed by hand, in order to save water and energy.
-Travel Guides: We are not included neither in Lonely Planet, nor in Footprint, nor in Lets Go… you are lucky, we aren´t in any travel guide!

ECO-HUELMO

In this little paradise, we try to live in a sustainable and responsible way, trying to cause lowest environmental impact. We collect plastic, metal, glass and paper to be recycled. We limit our maximum capacity: we offer only 3 cabins for maximum 11-12 total people placed in half a hectare of land because we are concerned about the impact we might cause on the village. We want to keep the place just like it is, and just like we first discovered it, as “a not tourist-like destination”. Our heating system uses wood burning stoves. Wood is obtained directly from our forest when cleaning the brushwood or cutting dieing trees, but not by destroying trees. We only use dry wood, not fresh wood for not polluting the air. Besides, we are planting trees of native species that are scarce in order to preserve them.

“NO TURISTICA" DECLARATION

Here, we are developing our own idea of “no-tourism”:
-Fair tourism, equal to equal, where there is neither server nor served.
-Tourism based not on commercial exchange but on cultural exchange. No tourist consumerism.
-Tourism that attempts to be integrated into the new place and has respect in order to be respected.
-Tourism as intercultural exchange that enriches both parts and has respect for different.
-Tourism without masks, that doesn’t conceal the reality for visitors.
-Minority tourism for the minorities.
-Responsible and environmental sustainable tourism.
-Nor fatherly neither arrogant tourism. Tourism doesn’t judge, it tries to understand the socio-economic context.
-Tourism that approaches to the local community with respect for its lifestyle, costumes, culture…
