Liked: Staff was friendly ( but during the night NOT in controle, see below)

Disliked: During the night staff was not in control. We can live with noise for some time of a group returns after drinking. After two hours being awake because of the noise we complained. Staff asked the other "guests" to go to sleep. After 15 minutes (0200 hours AM) they started to play a guitar which the staff also must hear. They only took action after we asked again. At around 0230 it was finally silent.. We did not sleep half the night and left the next morning. One night like this is enough. Beds are clean. Whole place is outdated and shabby. Floors of bathrooms are therefore difficult to be kept clean.

Liked: Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Great big house with a lot of areas to relax, read, watch TV, etc. Awesome breakfast and a big, modern kitchen that was always clean. Close to the beach and 15 minutes from Baquedano.

Disliked: the bathrooms were on a different floor if you had a room on the top floor only accessible via a precarious spiral staircase - dangerous especially in the middle of the night.

Liked: La Casona is THE place to stay in Iquique. You feel right at home. A gorgous colonial house, super helpful staff, big kitchen, nice TV area, sunny patio, good beds, plenty of bathrooms. And no worries in the morning. You get a more than filling breakfast. No other hostel in South America can top this one. FANTASTIC!

Disliked: The fact that I didn't have more time to stay longer :)

Liked: A really laid back hostel. The female owner is really nice, and can help you with getting a map of the city, telling about places to go and things to see. The dorms are basic but comfortable, bathrooms are fine too and have hot water. There are kitchen facilities which are well stocked with pans, cutlery etc. There is a big supermarket nearby, and a little one just along the street too. Nice courtyard as well by the kitchen. The owner even made a reservation at a hostel in Santiago for me. Would stay here again without a doubt!

Liked: The location is perfect. Close to the beach and close to the center. The staff is nice and is trying to help you.

Disliked: My vest is stolen with the money in it, ok i forgot it on a chair, but still people where not honest to bring it back. Also there are a lot of coackroach´s they blame the neighbours but still it is discusting and they are really disgusting. We readed on " the rules" of the hostel that you had to be quit when other people where sleeping in the night. We woke up at 02.30 at night people where making music on the gitar and singing really loud (i usually don´t complain but this was really loud) Nobody from the hostel made it stop so it lastest for 1,30 hour. I should think that if you have rules you stop the people who make the noice, for the people who are sleeping.

Liked: I never write any comments usually but my stay at hostel La Casona was really great so I wanted to share that experience which made my stay in Iquique a lot easier. The owner of the place (Isabel) was very nice and friendly, I felt very welcomed and got to know very nice Chilian people and not only travellers. The dorms are big and clean, the hostel is in a beautiful old mansion, I have absolutely no bad comments about this place!

Disliked: Isabelle left no negative feedback.

Liked: A good location very close to the swimming beach. The number 1920 in the name is not the house number, so read the address more carefully than I did if you want to find it :-). For some reason they wouldn't supply milk for the breakfast so we had to eat cornflakes with yoghurt, which is actually really nice, but you eat less of it. There's bread (toast), jam and reformed "meat" and also teas and coffee. I'm 6 feet tall and that was, with about an inch either end, the length of the beds. The showers were ok, though the one I used had a broken head and sprayed water everywhere else except on me. Perhaps it could be inverted and used to water a garden. On the whole, a good hostel to stay in.

Disliked: Customer left no negative feedback.
