Liked: Right across the street from the national and international bus terminals; Adolpho was incredibly helpful and made wonderful meals for a weary traveler! Also a 15 minute stroll to one of Arica's beautiful beaches.

Disliked: Nothing - I only stayed for one night, and for a place to rest my head it was perfectly fine.

Liked: Convenient location, near the busstation. The father and daughter who run the hostel are very friendly and will do their utmost to help you with your travelling. They were of great assistance with my travel to Peru.

Disliked: In the early mornings it gets noisy, you can overhear all the other travellers.

Liked: There really shouldn't be any negative comments about this place - the owner is so helpful and cannot do enough for you. He speaks v good english and gives good, honest advice about transport to Peru and trips/excursions. Nothing is an issue - he is happy to make you a bite to eat at any time of the day or night. It really is a 5 star service here and the rooms are very clean. Yes, there are rules about checking out on time and only having 2 showers a day, but it's ridiculous if anyone complains about that - who takes more than 2 showers a day? You have to respect the fact that there's a water shortage in this area. A great place to stay with excellent staff.

Disliked: Nothing at all.

Liked: if you are looking to simply stay in Arica for one night and to have an easy trip to and from the bus station, which is literally across the road his is the place for you. It's location is so close to the two bus stations. And the staff are really helpful, full of tips and friendly advice about how to get on in your traveling

Disliked: If you're coming here to relax, meet people, this is not the place for you. Rooms are tiny, no air conditioning, hot water supply not very strong

Liked: The owner is really helpful and can speak English. The hostel is opposite the national and international bus station, so great for crossing the border. It is only a 15 minute walk into town as well. The family are all really nice. There is a basic kitchen with a fridge.

Liked: The hostel ist close to the bus station. The rooms are clean.

Disliked: The room was horrible noisy. The neighbourhoos makes a new building and they are working the whole day. We thought, that we could sleep in the night. But the child of the owner played very noisy until 2 am. The whole night people came from the bus station and asked for rooms. When we are speaking with the owner because of this situation, they said it ist not their problem. The neighbourhood makes noise and they have nothing to do with this. After 2 nights we checked out, because we could not sleep there. They charged us for 3 nights. The breakfast ,what they offer with the room, was very poor. Black coffee and a piece of toasted bread from the day before. The owner makes many rules for his hostel. He will charge you for every minute for late check out the full roomprice. You are forbidden to shower more than 1 time per day etc. We would not recommend this hostel to other people.

Liked: If you want to be close to the bus station, this property is very close. It is also only about 20mins to the centre and 10mins from the beach. The owner and his daughters speak good English and are very helpful. They have good information for those travelling onto Peru or Bolivia. The rooms are small but our room had a balcony and a view of the Morro. The showers were warm but in the heat that's not too bad,

Disliked: The main dislike for us was how the owner's wife made you feel whenever you use the kitchen facilities. It always seemed that you were being watched to make sure you put everything back in place and didn't damage anything. On one occastion the gas ran out on the hob but we were not allowed to use the owners kitchen (which is next door and you walk through it to get to the guest kitchen/diner), and the response when we informed the wife of this was 'tough'. The kitchen itself is ok - only a 4-ring hob and a small microwave and one guest fridge freezer. One of the rules of the house, was that no food be kept in the rooms but there was no where else to store it. The only other gripe was that the beds had plastic covers on, so that it rustled loudly everytime you moved!

Liked: I booked this just before taking an all night bus to Arica. I wish I would have seen their email that they sent shortly after I booked because it had excellent advise and directions to their location, walking distance. The taxi drivers have a fixed price and I end up paying over $5 for less than a 1/2 km. I was really irritated but Tres Soles made it clear in their email that I did not have to take the taxi and they would have picked me up too. It is a father - daughter team (when I was there) and they both speak English really well and more than happy to help me with my interests and needs which included getting the best price for those interests.

Disliked: I like having a private bathroom and the private rooms only have a shared bathroom. However there are 2 shared bathrooms near-by that are decent size and clean. The rooms are really tiny but they do well with the space; multiple hangers on door, shelving on bed headboard, small hanging closet. There was only a single outlet (for the TV) so not the best place to charge electronics.

Liked: The staff were very friendly. We arrived early in the morning - before check in time - and the owner had a room where we could stay until the room we booked was ready. This was much appreciated after a long over night bus from San Pedro. The staff also provided us with excellent advice about crossing the border into Peru. WiFi worked good. The showers were also always hot, a rare treat when backpacking around South America.

Disliked: The hostel was difficult to find based on directions given. Having eventually asked a taxi driver we discovered it was down a side lane and behind the buildings directly opposite the bus station. It was in a safe location though. Room was cold at night as the windows don't close and also have permanent holes for ventilation.

Liked: This hostel is very close to the bus station, but about 20 min. walk to downtown. The owner is very friendly and nice. The one thing we didn´t like was that there was no kitchen access and the hostel charges for everything (towel, internet, breakfast all are over-priced). I would stay here again if I was only going to catch a bus the next day but if I wanted to explore downtown I wouldn´t. Overall, it is clean and the owner is welcoming.

Liked: Location, value for money and even facilities always come into a rating I suppose, and quite rightly too. But the added candle on the cake was the reception by the owner, his daughter and his staff. When you are a million metaphorical miles from home and need a little direction to light up the path ahead, well Adolpho (I apologise if the spelling is wrong) gives you a great big torch that says I not only am confident that I now know where I am going nextm but I am absolutely delighted that I came here.Hail hailMatt

Liked: Excellent location for the bus terminal (national, international). Long walk to the centro, though walking directly to the centre and then up the morro is a good way to take a look at Arica in total, including from above. Only bed is included in the price. At time of writing, breakfast is another 3000 on top. Does provided hot snacks and drinks at extra cost too. There is a mini market very near and a supermarket (Santa Isabel) 10-15 mins walk north. Owner is helpful and knowledgeable for local info needs and also about international bus travel from Arica. I recommend this residence for a short stop in Arica, but if you plan to stay longer, I recommend something more central, cheaper and which includes breakfast.

Disliked: Customer left no negative feedback.

Liked: I did a very late booking on Hostelbookers which should has been refused by the system. When I arrived very late at night (0.30 - 1.00), Adolfo and his sister were waiting for me and explained me they had a problem because all rooms were occupied (it was carnival in Arica and normally my reservation should not have been possible). Anyway they did their best to find an alternative and have spent a lot of time and energy to find a solution in the middle of the night. I did not have the chance to stay there but Adolfo has really showned great values.
