Small friendly hostel offering dorm, twin or double rooms. Located in a historic seaport of Yarmouth & just 600 metres from the US ferry.

Opened in late August 2003, the hostel is run by Lee
Whetstone and Cathie O'Brien who moved from Australia to
Nova Scotia in 2001.

The backpackers is located in a century old former sea
merchants house, circa 1880's. Purchased in 2002, the
interior was modernized and renovated whilst attempting to
retain as much of the character and charm of the original
architecture as possible - including the fantastic curved
wooden staircase leading to the bedrooms. The cupola (or
"widow's peak") is still located on the roof and offers extensive
views across the harbour.

We are happy to cater to single travellers, couples, groups and
families. Age is no restriction and our youngest traveller to
date was 3 and our oldest in her 80's! (Our 4 year old loves to
see other kids arriving).

The hostel offers budget accommodation and you can choose
from either a shared dormitory room (mixed), twin room (with 2 single beds) or
private double room (with one double bed). There are full kitchen facilities, a TV
room, two share bathrooms, internet access (for a small fee),
parking, bike storage and a sun deck. Linen and blankets are
included in the room cost.

24 hour check in, although if you plan to arrive before 8am or
after 6pm please make a reservation and reconfirm your
booking the day before. Let us know at the time your
approximate arrival time.

the newly formed hostel associationBackpackers Assocation SouthWest Nova formed to promote awareness of the growing number of hostels in the south west part of Nova Scotia.

just a short drive or bike ride to some of Nova Scotia's finest beaches, lakes, provincial parks and hiking trails
