Liked: The location---its right in Downtown area, close to the bus and train stations!!

Disliked: No kitchen at all--just a toaster and a microwave, making it difficult for the budget traveller!

Liked: Great location and relatively cheap.

Disliked: There's a difference between old school charm, and just old. This heritage building could be made into a really attractive destination hostel for backpackers, but it seems everything is just to "make do" with what's there. 'Kitchenette' area is in the hallway with no washing up facilities except in the rooms themselves (this includes sinks for the bathroom). Computers for use are coin-operated and mildly unreliable. But a great location, and anyone would say you get what you pay for, and this is a budget-priced hostel.

Disliked: I'd like a real Kitchen, they have Fridge and Freeezer, Microwave and Kettle, but no stoves.

Liked: The value for the price and the location.

Disliked: The hotel is not bad but it is not as expected. The room are quite simple and a little bit noisy. The area of the hotel is very close to downtown but there are beggars all around the place.

Liked: it is nice and clean the washrooms are nice and clean staff is ok it is close to sky train half block

Disliked: we have to take the garbage out and it is a bit nosey in frount of the bilding there is drug deling across the street but it happends in most citys staires are nosey but its a old bilding 100 years old

Liked: Location - close to places to eat, public transport, sights, in downtown, close to Greyhound station.

Disliked: Noisy, old building - thin walls, no air-con (our room was hot due to being in front of the building and getting a lot of sun)

Liked: Good location, easy to airport and right next to downtown and skytrain.

Disliked: the room are old and sometimes noisy but acceptable.

Liked: Nice cosy place, you feel at home. There is a fridge and tableware available, so it's possible to make your own simple dishes. People staying there are open and friendly

Disliked: Bad internet-connection, no sink at the bathroom.

Liked: Wood floors everywhere, free wireless internet

Disliked: No 24 hour reception, people talking/laughing loudly until 3 am, cheap and squeaky beds

Liked: Excellent. The only problem is that there is no place to wash your hands after using the toilet. And so you will have to go back to your room to do it. It's slightly inconvenient. Another problem is that the internet connection may not work in the evening -- making the planning for tomorrow's tour slightly difficult. But other than that, it is just really good. If I come back to Vancouver I will definitely choose to stay at St. Clair

Liked: Great little budget hotel/hostel. Rooms are very basic but clean and comfortable. Good location, close to many attractions. Staff are helpful.

Liked: friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, good located in the city

Disliked: the light on the aisle was on all night long. Above the door there was a glas wall so the light shine all night long into my face. Because of that I couldn't sleep.

Disliked: Room too small and too close to bathrooms, noise from a rock band at night and the smell of moisture.

Liked: location, atmosphere, staff very helpful

Disliked: room 21 needs some repairing (window, door) and smells really bad (tobacco). Fortunately staff accepted to make arrangement to give us another room for the next nights.

Liked: Close to everything we wanted to see. Especially close to the Seabus if you're planning on visiting North Vancouver as well.

Disliked: Bathroom and shower facilities were disgusting if you're staying bring shower sandals. Right across from student housing where there are parties every night. Loudest bunk beds EVER! "Kitchen" was located near fire escape doors which were left open. We watched mice coming and going.

Liked: Some of the rooms looked great, and you could be lucky and have a spacious room

Disliked: Our room was very small (they all seemed to be the same price). It is possibly the noisiest place i have ever stayed - night club till 1 in the morning, rubbish collectors 5/6 am in morning. Kitchem facilities limited. We asked to move rooms but no luck.

Disliked: Door lock a bit flimsy External street noise, but that comes with the central location - so can't really complain No water pressure in room

Liked: The price of a private room is cheap

Disliked: This is a cheap place to stay in Vancouver however there is no common room area which means that everyone congregates in the corridors outside the rooms - not good when you want to get to sleep at night!

Liked: Clean bedrooms and good location, but poor security. Front door is open during the day and the staff are not always at reception, and the fire escape doors are always open day and night (which backs onto an alley behind the building). The fire escape door on our level, which was not in good condition, could not be shut easily. Luckily, you can lock your bedroom door.
