Liked: This YHA is centrally located on Granville Street & only a 10 minute walk from the SkyTrain station. The Hostel is located on the "rough & ready" end of Granville Street, but nonetheless is relatively safe, with recveption manned 24 hours a day. The staff are immensly helpful & are happy to point you in the right direction. The Hostel has a pub crawl orgainsied for a few nights of the week along with a bowling night once a week, so is pretty social in that regard. The Hostel is a quite busy with guests coming & going constantly. What is lacking from this Hostel is decent self catering facilities in the way of a Kitchen.,.... the hostel has an express kitchen with free breakfast, although the only facilities to cook with are a kettle, toaster & microwave, so those looking to prepare dinner everynight need to be prepared for the lack of kitchen utilities available. The price of dorm is expensive (even in the shoulder season, it was higher then the price of a dorm room in a YHA located in The Rockies!) although putting all things into perspective is value for money in Vancouver, which is not exactly a cheap city to visit. The YHA appears to be in much better condition than the competing hostel opposite, that looks very run down, so go with the YHA.

Liked: It´s a perfect place to start a travel, to meet people, to be in Vancouver... Honestly - one of the best Hostels I´ve been (not from the atmosphere - it´s pretty average - but from what you get for your money: breakfast, Internet, nice rooms, great (!!!!) washrooms and relaxed people and REALLY helpful and friendly staff)! I felt good and definetly come back :-)!!!

Liked: u like starbucks? good, because u r gonna be there many times to use free internet... internet in hi central is crap: no connection in ur room, mostly even no connection in the lobby or lounge.. staff always seems surprised when u tell them u don't get internet -even though it doesn't work for weeks now!also no proper kitchen available, only microwaves, no stoves!i'm disappointed -i expect a certain standard if i book in HI hostels and i pay for it..

Liked: The location was great and the hostel was clean and tidy throughout, the winning point for me was the breakfsat - we thought it'd just be toast when they said it was included inthe price.Great place to stay and great breakfast buffet.

Liked: I'm always against hostels that charge money for internet. It's pretty much free in most places now and charging for internet is like charging for showers in my opinion. They need to make it free. Other than that, decent but nothing spectacular. Clean, showers were well kept, rooms quiet but not so spacious.
