Tom PorterThe building has character, and the bar is cheap and lively, with good food in the bar and the bakery. You get what you pay for, it is basic and comfy enough and the longer your stay the more it will grow on you. Right next door to crack town though, not the hostels fault but seriously not cool. |

Frances KentIt has mice which are quite brave as i saw at least 2! The bar downstairs is very loud on weekends. Very central to Gas Town which is good for finding way round. Free breakfast is a muffin and coffee but the upgrade is very filling and value for money. |

Customer reviewExcellent location met heaps of cool cats slightly dirty but a dam site cleaner than a lot of hostels in Vancouver and far better value for money. You cant beat the Cambie pub downstairs for a drink and some good greasy food. |

Gwen GuderjohnThe bar and restaurant downstairs were big and happening, although the crowd definitely seemed young and drunk, a little frat-party-esque. i liked the selection of beer on draft and the big communal tables and benches were great for people-watching or getting rowdy drunk. The staff was very funny and friendly, willing to give help when asked for, but I didn't get the impression that they were trying to go out of their way for any of the guests. Our room was a private double w/shared bathrooms and was plain and clean, furnishings were typical of a big city hostel... well-worn chair, small desk, mirror, oh and lockers. The bathrooms were clean, but didn't offer much privacy or stall space for your things while showering. We drove our car into Vancouver, and ended up parking it in another part of town because the street parking was notoriously unsecure and lot parking for the weekend would have cost nearly as much as another night at the hostel. The location was close to the touristy part of town and a comfortable walk to downtown bars and music venues. The price seemed fair enough, average for the other hostels I looked into and much better than even the cheapest hotel in the downtown area. They also give you a ticket for a free coffee/tea and muffin at their bakery/cafe in the morning. The muffins were great. Enjoy Vancouver, eh! |
