TAKE A CITY-BUS TO PARADISE-— ISLAND STYLE !!
This Paradise is accessible by city bus #7 from Duncan. A glimpse of the creative Island culture, built from the ground up, using recycled, found, donated and handmade materials...best place to get away from the cities, chill-out and enjoy nature...
The uniquely-creative Island culture is best understood with a visit to Iguana Ranch Guesthouse. A stay at this “shangrila” is a journey inside the mind's-eye of two very creative Islanders which results in an picture-perfect dream.
Imagine a secluded hideaway with impossible blue skies, thermal winds blowing up from a huge clear pond, sunlight dancing on the ripples, colorful wildflowers sparkling in the sun, the grounds sculpted and transformed into a surreal maze of monsterous—yet beautiful—bike jumps, happy people milling about, and the smell of good food cooking; the feng shui is so tangible that even wildlife is attracted—it is the best place on the island to just chill-out, get away and relax.
Staying at the ‘Ranch' is a sublime experience that opens your mind to creative possibilities, where sheds are made of busses, busses made into cabins, trees into houses and tipis, and 7 acres is total paradise!
Almost everything at the ranch has been cleverly crafted or conceived of by the two energetic owners; built from the ground up, using recycled, found, donated and handmade materials—these two know what to do with “stuff” and where to put it. With a cute and clean little dorm, a beautiful large breezy main house, a stunning view, shady decks, elaborate gardens, lots of space for relaxing and a huge pond for sunning, swimming & boating, you may have to push yourself to go out and explore the area—but you should, especially for the biking, hiking and exciting river-tubing!
This glimpse of the distinctive Island culture and unique lifestyle is priceless, yet affordable at $35 a night, which includes breakfast. But, travelers on a budget take heed-- there is NO COMMON KITCHEN; part of the “shangrila” experience is the fabulous international dinners available for $12.50 nightly—which are healthy, tasty, hearty, and very accommodating. As well, the Guesthouse only accepts a maximum of 10 guests at a time, keeping it intimate, relaxed and homey — keys to the authentic cultural experience.
Accessible from Duncan by bus #7 (no busses on Sunday)--always call for possible free pick-up if we are going to town...or $20 if we come and taxi you.
