Liked: Overall a good place to stay. Expect a tax on top of the shown price, as is always the case in Canada. I would recommend this hostel to others.

Disliked: Have the booking page printed - saved me having to pay the deposit again.

Liked: Location, private room very large.

Disliked: Not clean, not enough showers for guests, secondary location does not have the advertised amenities.

Liked: Welcoming, fun and great place to meet people. Fab location and extremely helpful staff.

Disliked: No breakfast included and common room used as bedroom when busy. Otherwise excellent.

Liked: Very impressive hostel. Very clean bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. Staff was helpful. Great location, 5 min walk from downtown St John's. Highly recommend. Why would anyone stay in a hotel??

Liked: It was clean. The location was perfect. Quiet street in the center of downtown St. John's. I felt safe. I felt comfortable. The owner and his staff are simply excellent. At the rate I paid I was expecting a conventional dump like I have stayed in in Toronto and Hawaii. It was more like a 4 Star Bed and Breakfast with more beds.

Disliked: Not having booked an extra few days

Liked: People of hostel were nice and friendly. Building is part of "Jerry beans", it's so cute.

Disliked: Floor of restroom was wet. I thought if there were towels besides the bath tab, it's much better.

Liked: location is good - everything in St John's is walkable. I appreciated the ease of late-night check-in, they gave me a private room so I wouldn't disturb the others sleeping - very considerate of them.

Disliked: I ran into a bunch of people who were not travellers and were using the hostel as temporary accommodation. They were older, jaded and talked your ear off...

Liked: City Hostel was perfect! It's in a very central location in St. John's (walking distance to all of the in-city attractions), was super clean, very secure and had good amenities. The staff was genuinely friendly and very accommodating. I will definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends and colleagues.

Liked: Not the best organized hostel I' ve seen, to few bathrooms, and the commonroom is smal, dark and in the basement. But would absolutley still recommed it. The staff is outstanding. They go that extra mile for you and make you feel real welcome. Location is also great.

Liked: It was a heritage building, very clean, very hospitable staff more than willing to go that extra mile, met people from across Canada and Europe staying there - a definite recommend.
