Liked: Any decision to stay at the Rideau Inn should be based solely on the price and location. At a weekend rate of $70/night and an easy walk from Parliament Hill, the inn is an easy and affordable launch pad to view the city.

Disliked: The inn would be better characterized as a hostel. The downsides are the rooms are very close together. If you stay on the first or second levels, you will hear your neighbors creaking on the wooden floors overhead. The bed we stayed in was lumpy and in need of replacement. The sheets also had a warped feeling from being excessively washed (probably for several years). Part of our room was dusty/dirty, one of our two lights was not functioning properly and our clock was not set. There is a glass window above many room doors, which cause the bedrooms to be flooded with hallway light. Our suite was small, without sufficient space to store our belongings. Several rooms do not contain their own bathrooms. No toiletries will be provided. An attendant is not on-site for most of the day and the evening hours. The self-serve continental breakfast consists of cereal, fruit and croissants.

Liked: The bathroom was perfectly clean, the room was also clean, the hotel was very quiet as I needed, the location is ok. The breakfeast is great! There is plenty of food, a lot of variety to choose.

Liked: This place really does have a nice homely feeling, with breakfast being very sociable if you want it to be, and the location is good for all the sites in the very centre of town. There was a confusion with the dates of my booking but Laura sorted it out immediately and was extremely helfpul. I would definitely stay there again.

Disliked: Though I would stay there again, I would probably request not to have a room on the ground floor as I suspect it could be quite noisy. The rest of the house was fine though.

Liked: A home away from home.

Disliked: The room near the kitchen is, obviously, a little bit louder in the morning if you like to sleep in and there is a full house eating breakfast at the same time.

Liked: Dave and Stacey are very nice people. I really enjoyed my stay there. The Rideau Inn is not far away from Downtown (walkable), the breakfast was the best I had on my trip through Eastern Canada and if I should visit Ottawa again, I would stay in Rideau Inn again.

Liked: it is verry like hjome and not at the touristtic part of down town and still nearby you are free in wat you are dooing to meet people in the livingroom or stay at your bedroom. It is not for party people but just for the easy going traveler.

Liked: I enjoyed this hostel because it was a home away form home. There was plenty offresh fruit available for breakfast, a computer with internet available in the livingroomand the bedroom was comfortable. The hostel was very generous with the heat, which I appriciated since it was -40 when I was visiting Ottawa!
