Liked: Location and staff.

Disliked: You get packed into these rooms like sardines, there are way too many beds in each room, the place becomes incredibly crowded. They have really cheap beds/mattresses (I barely got any sleep and now my back is killing me). They cut a lot of corners. I would strongly recommend to stay somewhere else.

Liked: Good location, decent little area out back with a seperate building to hang out in. Its a place to bed down for the night for cheap money, there are some comparable places but its pretty good.

Disliked: Kinda cramped, even for a hostel...and it smelled bad because of lack of circulation. Awkward electric plugs sticking out of the floor that are a tripping hazzard. The 12 person room is more like 20 because of the rooms set up. Not enough bathrooms. They are not careful about who they let stay there, there were some shady characters. Some people got things stolen.

Liked: -nice kitchen -generally nice style of hostel -location

Disliked: -shower did not work properly (now it did - but it was only when it was set to boiling hot) and leaked -had room 102 - directly next to some noisy technical stuff -window could not be opened and heater worked on full capacity all the time -got no key - in the end this did not matter because it was so warm that we slept with open doors =)

Disliked: There was a mouse in my room. Also, the ceiling rained when the people upstairs showered. I was disconcerted that I was never given a key to the room I was staying in.

Liked: Nice place in a lively neighbourhood; liked the stylish look of the room and bathroom (bare brick, old wooden window blinds etc.), the deep windows and the little balcony that would certainly have been awesome in summer

Disliked: Window in the room didn't close properly, hence it was pretty cold all the time; there were no towels; the common bathroom (which seemed to be used only by a few people) wasn't cleaned a single time during our 3 day stay, even though there was a lot of dirt everywhere because of the snow. Breakfast was sparse to non-existent - after 9am, no milk or bread was left, no trace of bagels or anything the-like. The common room was totally neglected and disgustingly dirty, with all sorts of unneccessary items lying around (like old yellowpages, VHS....). Same goes for the reception, which needs a proper clean-up and made a really bad first impression with stray papers, empty cans.... The hallway leading to the common bathroom is supposed to be an emergency exit, but they used it instead as storage area for their full trashbags and extra pillows, all thrown on the floor. Nice place with a lot of potential, but the staff definitely needs a little more enthusiasm.

Liked: Relatively close to the metro. There are tons of bars and restaurants nearby to try. Bathroom is well kept for the 12 bunk room (clean, hot water & lots of space). 12 bunk room (two parts 8 & 3) has power outlets in the center with enough for everybody. Beds are clean with fresh sheets and towels provided.

Disliked: Slow wifi. Don't expect to make clear skype or UMA calls out of their wifi connection. The street gets a bit sketchy at night.

Liked: Nice, friendly place. and I liked the price. Its not to expensive. I booked a dorm bed, but on arrival all beds were taken. I got a private room for the same price, that was really nice! The location of this hostel is also a good point.

Disliked: The breakfast was not what i expected. only serials with milk, white bread and some little chocolate breads. I didn't liked them.

Liked: Good atmosphere, in one of the best areas of Montreal to go out!Near to UQAM, full of young people.

Disliked: The sink in the bathroom was quite dirty. The night receptionist asked me for a 8 dollar deposit but the day receptionist refused to give me it back, saying that the hostel has never asked any deposit...

Liked: The place is relatively close to restaurants and Double Pizza outlet, so no trouble on eateries.Despite the lack of physical facilities, the service was excellent. The receptionists willingly assist me during my transition period and including the luggage handling. 2 thumbs up for them! The guests are also nice and very hospitable. If you're a backpacker who likes roam into Montreal's vibrant night life and with small luggage, this is your perfect spot! It's near the MRT too!

Disliked: I've ordered the place for 3 nights for 75 CAD and payed the 10% deposit online through credit card before i went to Montreal. But when i arrived there, there was no record of my reservation at Le Jazz. I even showed my print out the receptionist but the system didn't show up any record. Must've been something wrong with their computer or hostelbookers. In the end, i had to pay 32 CAD for 1 night, which the receptionist managed to slip me in amidst their tight schedule. The total amount of my stay was 39.5 CAD for 1 night, which is far from the original price offered. The place is a bit damp and not that spacious and the bed is rickety so I had to fill the gap of the bed with some stereo-foam. If you're a guest with big luggages (more than 1), i suggest you to find a better alternative.

Liked: The only spread for the bagel was butter, & they couldn't even buy enough so that it wouldn't run out every morning. The kitchen was always yuck, the common room couch stinks. We were asked twice what room we were in by a staff member, & I had to tell them which beds were available in our room. The whole place was shambles we'll never stay here again.

Liked: I strongly recommend the double room with the jacuzzi. I wasn't sure I was getting that room until we got there. I payed the $100 a night room so whichever that is, get it! I slept the first night on the regular rooms and the beds were not so comfortable but the double sure is. You definitely get more than what you pay for. At a regular hotel, you'd pay much more and would get so much less out of it. If getting the regular rooms.... I still suggest them since you shouldn't be stuck in bed if your single. Its a great place to mingle and meet some new people. Also, great for your pocket... just eat their free delicious bagels for BrkFst and you'll be god until lunch. One thing though... I didn't notice any fans... not even in the double room so in the summer must get really hot in the rooms.

Liked: Liked the location, right in the International Quarter. Close to restaurants and bars.Staff were helpful, I feel they could have a little more local knowledge, I was asking for recommendations for dinner, sightseeing etc, and they seemed to not know an abundant amount, which I feel is important, especially when they are the being relied on by many inexperienced travellers.Security, Coded front door was good, lockers in rooms, big enough for a day pack but not by much. Self locking doors on all rooms would be an improvement, you have to manually lock door every time you leave.Ensuite bathrooms in every room, good and bad. Good for the fact they are really close! Bad because there is only one of them, and when you need to go, and the person with the long hair has just jumped in the shower, you’re in for a long wait! Circumstantial but an issue that arose more than a couple of times.Housekeeping could have done with a dirty laundry bin, somewhere! Towels just kept pilling up!Now to the Kitchen... Compact... Minimalistic.... Cramped for more than 4 people. 1 Stove/oven, 1 Fridge, which was full to the rim! Being so limited on space this cuts back on the seating room, giving room for only 10 to sit. The Staff were friendly and seemed to be doing the best they could with what they had.
