About HI-Halifax

Our designated Municipal Heritage Building has been renovated and has a brand new exciting look, along with fabulous new on-site amenities, including free Wi-Fi, internet kiosks with Skype and printer access, plus secure recharging stations for your laptops, cell phones and cameras!
There are free courtesy phones, leather furniture in the common areas and a wide screen TV with a VCR/DVD player.
In the summer enjoy a refreshing drink on our street side patio as you people watch in our vibrant city!

Gateway to the Atlantic Provinces, Halifax is a great base from which to explore the rest of the Maritimes. Cape Breton Island, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador and New Brunswick are easily accessible from Halifax by planes, trains & automobiles!

Founded in 1749, to establish British strength in North America, Halifax has much history and culture, including a cool summer Jazz Festival, a funky Busker's Festival, the International Tattoo, and the Titanic Graveyard.

The hostel is close to the city's best music and pubs, and some of the best seafood you'll enjoy in Canada. The weekend Farmer's Market, Asian food shops and various large grocery stores are all within a short walk's distance, and your HI membership card will get you discounts at several nearby restaurants.

Non-Members: $35.00

If you do not have an HI membership, you can always purchase one from our reception at check in and start saving that night! We also ask for $5 cash room key deposit.

We have 3 parking spots underground. Parking spots are given first come first serve basis and rate is $8/night. Parking key deposit is $25 cash.

We also have a special for long terms between November and April

...single bedroom with shared bathroom $450 + tax
...single bedroom with en-suite $500 + tax

Accommodation Information

Offering affordable accommodation in a friendly, safe and comfortable environment to individuals, families and groups of all ages, HI Halifax has private, family and dorm rooms available. Situated 200m from the bus and trains stations, getting here is a breeze!

Our dormitory rooms are male and female, with 6 to 8 beds per room.
Several private rooms are also available, some with en-suite washroom! They book quickly so give us a call or email! (You will not find them book-able online!)

Our maximum length of stay is 14 nights. We make an exception for this in winter when we have monthly deals to offer.

Location Information

The hostel is within walking distance to all that Halifax has to offer.
Pier 21, Citadel Hill, Museums, pubs, restaurants, Public Gardens, Point Pleasant, Universities, Halifax Water-Front boardwalk, Metro Centre for concerts.
