Failure to provide 3 days advance notice will result in the credit card used to guarantee the reservation being charged the balance of the reserved night(s) that fall within that 72 hr period. Please note that cancellation policy still applies to guests who book 3 days prior to arrival. Preferred payment is CASH or DEBIT, collected at check-in. Credit card payments will have a $5.00 processing fee added to the cost of accommodation. If any changes to your reservation need to be made, please contact Bear on the Lake directly. Please note. Prices listed are not inclusive of tax. Provincial taxes are 15% extra. Prices listed are discounted, guests maybe subject to regular pricing should they not qualify.

Your bed is made for your arrival, so drop your bags and relax on our sunny outdoor patio. BBQ while taking in a 180 degree view of the lake, and later roast marshmallows & cook bannock over the bonfire! As the moon rises over the lake, make a wish on one of the countless stars above!

Enjoy free Wi-Fi; internet access, free on-site parking, a fully equipped guest kitchen, coffee/tea, linens, laundry facilities, and an iPod compatible stereo with recharge station!

Our dorm rooms sleep 4 to 6 people and our private rooms come with their own private lounge and balcony!

Your bed is made for your arrival in our clean & comfortable dorm rooms that sleep 4 - 6 people!
Private Rooms are also available but tend to book up quickly (especially in July, August & October; be sure to book early!)

Our Cape Breton hostel is the perfect location to begin and finish your Cabot Trail experience! We are only 10 minutes from the start/ finish of The Cabot Trail Scenic Drive!

Bear on the Lake sits on Salt Mountain, overlooking the beautiful Bras D'Or Lakes in the heart of Cape Breton. It does not get more tranquil than here!
Our central location is a perfect base to explore every nook & cranny of Cape Breton Island. If driving from Halifax, PEI, or New Brunswick arrive in the early afternoon in time to soak up the sun on our patio, BBQ for dinner and enjoy a bonfire! Then enjoy a good night's rest before beginning the Cabot Trail just minutes down the road!
For those of you heading to & from Newfoundland, we are only 45 minutes from North Sydney where the ferry docks!
