Overview
Bear on the Lake Guesthouse overlooks the beautiful Bras D'or Lakes of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Watch moose, bear and eagles in their natural habitat, cook marshmallows on an open fire under the stars or kayak and hike along the ocean and lakes!
Welcome to Bear on the Lake Guesthouse and HI Cape Breton Island!

We sit on our own mountainside with a 180 degree view of the Bras d'Or Lakes. We're close to Highlands National Park, the Cabot Trail and Newfoundland Ferry.
We can offer you free internet, board games,fully stocked kitchen & BBQ, fresh linens, laundry facilities, clean bathrooms and bedrooms and great smelling staff.
We can book you on all local activities such as kayaking, whale watching, sailing and backpacker tours of the area and throughout Eastern Canada.
We offer free parking if you arrive by car. We are on the bus route or shuttles from Halifax can drop you off at our door. Salty Bear Adventure Travel also drops off at our location from Halifax each Monday.
