There are many international borders such as Poipet, Pailin, Osmach and Koh Kong. However we advise that you try only the main ones such as Poipet, Koh Kong. For the visa today the government try to make it easy, you can get it at the border crossing (Poipet or koh Kong) costing $ 20 for tourist visa and business visa $25.

It’s 465km, 7 hours trip from Bangkok to Siem Reap. You can take bus or train 4-5 hours from Bangkok to Aranyaprathet, the town on the Thai side near the border. It is then a short tuk tuk ride the last 6km to the border crossing, from the border (Poipet), it will take 2 hours by taxi (car) or 2 and half hours by Bus Company. For the bus package you can buy a ticket at Bangkok by agency; however those companies having partnerships with agency at the border will get commission $6/personfrom hotel or guesthouse in Siem Reap.

If you want to get into Siem reap quicker, it’s better to book ticket just to Poipet.

At the border, sometimes the staff of agencies on the Thai side pushes you to buy the ticket or arrange taxi to get commission. Please don't listen to them; you can arrange a taxi or bus from the terminal bus station. The taxi will costs $12/person or bus $9/person from Poipet to Siem reap, if you can combine with other people would be great.

The drive will take 2 and half hours to Siem reap and the road is very good condition. Buses or Taxis leave daily from Poipet at 7 am until 5 pm. The highway No 6 from Poipet to Siem Reap has been reconstructed. The bus stops for food in Kralanh District, (45 km from Siem Reap),
