Liked: my friends and i stayed at ta som guesthouse and absolutely loved our experience! the manager, meng, and his staff were very friendly and understood most of our needs and made our trip really comfortable and hasslefree! loved its location: near to angkor wat and 10-15mins walking distance to night market! highly recommended!

Liked: The Good:Transfer and checking in. The hotel arranged a free transfer for us from the Mekong Express bus station which was a bonus. Upon arrival we were given a lovely coconut welcome drink for free. We were then introduced properly to our tuk-tuk driver (Mr Phoann I think – lovely guy) who would be assigned to us for our whole stay should we need him and they told us about the different options there were for visiting the Angkor sites. Not once did we feel pressured into doing a particular tour.The Room. We requested a quiet non smoking room and they honoured that. We had a room on the top floor that was big and bright and very clean. The room was exactly as described on the website.The staff. Both before and during our stay, the staff at Ta Som were excellent in their communications and were very friendly at all times. One member of staff who deserves a special mention is Lin who works on reception. He helped us with queries about buses to Ho Chi Minh before we even arrived at the hotel and was always very friendly and approachable when we were there. This is amazing considering he is also the night man and sleeps in reception so is awoken all through the night by people coming back drunk and being noisy (which there were a handful of whilst we were there!) and was taking exams the next day!The breakfasts. There was a choice of hot breakfasts each morning which was cooked on demand and came with some fresh fruit. The breakfasts in general were above average for Cambodia in our experienceInternet access There were two PCs downstairs that were free for guests to use and there was also free wi-fi in all the rooms. It was generally very quick and reliable.The Not So Good:We always try to write a biased review so the only thing we can think of that was not so good was the hot water on the last day. It was very cloudy whilst we were there and on the morning of departure we tried to have a hot shower but there was no hot water. Lin informed us that the water is solar heated so unfortunately there was no hot water available due tot he previous day's weather. This is not uncommon in Cambodia however most hotels we have visited had a back up for times like these but this did not appear to be the case. So we just had a cold shower.Oh and the location. The guest house is in what is considered the town centre of Siem Reap but a little way out from the main tourist restaurants and markets. It is only a 15 minute walk to the start of the touristy area and the roads are well lit so we did not mind but I know it was a little further out than some people expected.Overall:A lovely spacious and very clean hotel with lots of little extras and great value for money. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

Liked: Really friendly staff. I felt like they were genuinely interested in ensuring we had a comfortable stay. It had a nice family-business kind of atmosphere. The daily room cleaning was excellent, the rooms are comfortable and very clean. The breakfast is better than most hostel "basic" breakfast, i.e decent coffee and a little bit of fruit in addition to having a bit of choice.

Liked: It was a very pleasant place to stay. The room was spacious and immaculately kept with all of the mod-cons required. Service was prompt and freindly and staff went out of their way to be helpful.

Liked: very friendly and helpfull and the tuk tuk drivers from the hotel are excellent.good location, short walk to old market or the hotel tuktuk will take you for free, would highly recommend

Liked: Large room with individual controlled airconditioner that really worked.More than ample continuous hot water. Good location and friendly helpful staff. The only down side was the bathroom as it was a little on the dingy side but considering the nightly rate charged I do not feel one could of expected more.Definately recommend this place

Liked: the friendliest staff we encountered during our entire trip. we got a free fruitshake on arrival, and some delicious mangos in the evening. breakfast was included, which made it great value for money. the place is just outside the towncentre, but you could easily walk (15 minutes) or get a tuktuk (1$). the tuktuk driver and the guide that were arranged for us to visit angkor wat were were very nice and professional and made the visit much more interesting.

Liked: Lovely place to stay, nice staff, reasonable breakfast, lovely clean rooms and bathroom, too much telly to be watched! A relief to arrive at after a ridiculous journey from Bangkok and being badgered to stay at drivers mates guesthouse.

Liked: 05 Jan 2009- The hostel is in a good location, not direclty in the town centre soits quiet at night andis only 10 min in a tuk tuk to Angkow wat temples. Staf couldnt have been more helpful, and we arranged ourtemple tour with them and our bus to Phnom Penh. The rooms are big ,clean and modern,and they service it everyday.

Liked: A really fantastic hostel, the best hostel we have been in South East Asia. Excellent relation price-quality, very friendly management with outstanding hospitality and staff, clean rooms, very good location to visit the Angkor ruins. The breakfast was already included in the cheap (!!!) price and internet use was also free.Delicious food in the restaurant! Interesting tour program!If we come back, we will only stay in Ta Som Guesthouse.Highly recommendable!! (Silke und Carsten R., Germany)
