Liked: Its a really nice building, I can even say luxurious for a hostel. definetly worth for the money. just 5 min. walk to the beaches of Barra and bus stop for Pelourinho.

Liked: This is a great hostel, as you will gather from the broad praise it receives. A great breakfast, clean rooms and a good communal area. Russell is very helpful and knowledgeable. The other staff are a little morose, which is a shame. This is no party hostel as it remains a little bit rulesey, but for a comfortable stay in Salvador, there`s probably no better place.

Liked: Russell the owner is very helpful and told us lotsn of great places to visit!Really good breakfast too!Only one annoying thing which was the driver we organised through the hostel to tale us to the airport who seemed to have a death wish.

Liked: We have been in South America for 2 months, and Barra has by far been the best Hostel we have come across! The rooms were very clean, spacious (and the bathrooms were cleaned twice daily!). Russell and the rest of the staff really help make the most of your stay in Salvador, taking the time to sit down when you ariive to go through what to do, what to see, and were always available to answer any questions etc. THE BEST BREAKFASTS- hot breakfast every morning was awesome!! Thanks for everything, Barra truelly made our stay in Salvador!

Liked: The hostel really feels like a proper guest house with Russell, the friendly owner welcoming you into his house and doing everything he can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The breakfast is excellent, the in house city tour very enjoyable and the rooms are spotless. Would recommend to anyone.

Liked: Russel -the owner - is very helpful with recommendations for the area around and tells you where to go and where not. The area is safe, even at dark. The atmosphere in the hostel is very nice as well. Definetely one of my favourite hostels of all!

Liked: The owner Russell is fantastic and really made our trip. He knows the area very well and can recommend things to do and places to go, the hostel feels like a home from home with a wonderful breakfast including scrambled eggs & pancakes. Very clean and friendly, he let us leave our bags there when we checked out so that we could go out until it was time to catch our bus. Will definitely come back here again.

Liked: russel was great.....his place is amazing and there is someone always ready to help or recommend things to do or see. best bbq ever thanks russel and junior!! best place to stay in barra. we recommended it to a friend we met wha was traveling alone and she had such a good time she stayed an extra 2 days. boiepa was fantastic thanks for recommendation russel.

Liked: Great hostel- beautiful old colonial house with very comfortable small rooms, each has an en-suite which really cuts down waiting for the shower! Loads of tours and information on the city available as well as advice from the owner. Very close to Barra beaches, bars and a HSBC just up the road. Great breakfast too, fruit, juice, eggs and pancakes on request. Free caipirinha every night! Good value for money, I would definitely recommend to a friend.

Liked: During our stay we especially appreciated the friendly advice and help from staff. The breakfast was also delicious with fresh fruit juices (clean water and ice cubes), superb cakes prepared, eggs to order, pancakes, fresh fruit etc. A great start to a day in Salvador.

Liked: This is the best hostel that I have ever been. Russel is a very knowledgeable manager and keeps everything in a way that makes you feel as if you were his personal guest. The breakfast is indeed the absolute best of any other hostel. Where else can you get made to order pancakes and scrambled egges in a hostel? The only observation I have to make is that the design of the guest house doesn't allow people to meet and socialize as is typical in hostels. Given this fact this is more of a place for an extended stay such as a language course or for a romantic couple than it is for a solo traveler looking to meet people.

Liked: Very helpful English owner who kept a good grip over the place. Friendly atmosphere but most people there were English. Very good location for beaches and restaurants, and safe enough. Free internet. Private room facilities average.
