This is a beautiful Colonial hostel which offers high standard accommodation at affordable rates in the heart of Barra, the safest area of Salvador da Bahia. Nestled in a quaint tree lined residential street right next to one of Salvador’s most fashionable squares Jardim Brasil (Garden of Brazil) which boasts some of the best restaurants and music bars in the area.

A five minute stroll from the Hostel and you will find yourself on the beautiful Porto da Barra beach with its own Naval fort or the Farol da Barra beach beneath its ancient Light House (First Light House in South America) where you can play in the warm Atlantic surf.

Access to the old Historical City of Pelourinho is 10 min by taxi or 15 min bus ride away R$2.40

Your comfort and safety is the most important thing for us, therefore,
Russell & Keyko the English Brazilian owners will spend time with every guest to advise on local attractions and advice with regards to staying safe when visiting Pelourinho and other down town attractions.
Keyko’s local knowledge of Bahia having lived here for 16+ years and traveled extensively throughout Brazil will ensure you get the very best out of your stay, and tips on where to head next. Keyko is fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish.

Please note payment by cash on arrival. We do not accept credit cards. If your arrival time is after 11.00pm you must produce a hard copy of your booking confirmation to the night security before you will be permitted onto the premises.

Other Hostel Facilities is large fully fitted & equipped guest kitchen with microwave, cooker, fridge and storage space.
The Hostel is spacious and has several relaxed social areas both inside and out. We have preserved the colonial style of this old property with its high ceilings and large rooms so you will never feel like you are cramped.

We have a dedicated TV and DVD lounge, an information area with two super fast PCs fully Skype enabled and our Tourist information desk.

Breakfast

Our famous Hot and cold served Breakfast is available from 7.00am in our café and will set you up for the day, leaving early, 4.00 am? No problem, you will have a breakfast before you leave.

During the day we serve economical meals, snacks and cold drinks in our café for you convenience.

During Carnival the week before Carnival the week after Carnival, Christmas and new Years week a 50% deposit is required in addition to the deposit you paid Hostelbookers. The deposit must be paid to Barra Guest Hostel within two weeks of making your booking with Hostelbookers.
Deposits are non refundable, Bookings are not transferable.

All private rooms have international cable.

All rooms including our Dormitories are air-conditioned, have private bathrooms with glass shower doors and endless hot water. Our dormitories have secure lockers for each guest that will take a fully packed backpack and beds with private night reading lights, full seating headroom and safe substantial stairs to access top bunks.

In addition you have international cable TV (5 English movie channels 3 world sports channels, CNN and BBC news).

‘Barra Guest House’ is located in the heart of Barra, Salvador. We are one minute walk to the best bars and restaurants; seven minutes walk to best beaches and four minutes walk to the Shopping Center. If you take a taxi in ten minutes you will be at the Historical centre.
