Overview

Casa De Irene on Boipeba island has three guest rooms, and is a stone’s throw from a beautiful beach in paradise, situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the tropical forest of Bahia, with coconut, banana and mango trees; on one side the mangroves and on the other, the waves of the ocean.

Bahia is the Africa of Brazil, with the sun almost all year round, the sea is the kind you dream about, warm and calm, there are countless fruits and flowers, lobster dishes and Capoeira.

Just off the coast of Salvador de Bahia, Boipeba Island awaits you to discover nature by foot, on horseback or by boat. No cars, but donkeys for all types of transport. The island has three small fishing villages, peace and quiet day and night, and the cries of birds and the sounds of waves as background music.

Irene, a Franco-Brazilian, built the house of your dreams with three guest bedrooms.

Accommodation Information

Irene’s house is perched on a hill overlooking the beach. Its three rooms are nestled in the greenery. The peacefulness, the hammocks and excellent beds make Irene’s house a perfect place to stay for your holidays.

The house is open to everyone: the bedrooms open out onto a vast covered wooden terrace where breakfast is eaten and where, as the sun sets in the evening, you can drink a famous Caipirinihna. At night, the wooden deck on the roof of the house invites you to go up and look at the star filled sky of Bahia.

The terrace: Irene's house has got a wooden terrace on the roof. A great place to have a rest, with fabulous views of the sea and the starry sky.

Location Information

The island: situated off the coast of Salvador de Bahia, Boipeba lies between the Atlantic Ocean and the coastline covered in mangroves. It is a protected nature reserve.

You can get there by boat from Valença (eventually from Graciosa and Torrinhas), a port which is served by a bus that leaves from Itaparica, opposite Salvador de Bahia. You can also get there from the neighboring island of Morro de Sao Paulo.

The island of Boipeba stretches out over 15 kilometers with beaches of fine sand and coconut trees for as far as the eye can see. During low tide, natural pools appear and from where fishermen take their catch down to the beach.

In the interior of the island, luscious vegetation of cashew, palm, banana and coco trees as well as sugar cane grow. White sand covered pathways invite you to take long walks or go on horse-back for several hours of for the whole day, from the old village of Boipeba to the small port of Morere.

Local guides take enormous pleasure in accompanying you to see the manioc oven and the making of palm oil. After a memorable lunch of lobster, they take you back by boat in the evening.
