This was a great place to stay. It was clean, had a great view, a pool, friendly owners, and a homey feel to it. The location is a little difficult to get to, but worth it!

This is an absolutely beautiful home. We felt relaxed and at home at Vila Casa Nova. Breakfast was good, too.
6 August 2008
Brilliant breakfast, and very relaxed with it (wasn't cleared away until 12, unlike a lot of other places). The hosts were really friendly and welcomed everyone into their home as a friend. Not really a hostel, more like a small upmarket guesthouse for a great price. (except the laundry service which was extortionate!)

the staff was really helpful and welcoming, made us feel right at home even though we arrived very late in the night in some unusual rain, the breakfast was amazing and the rooms were very clean and comfortable, the location is great and was worth diversifying our stay in rio as we initially just thought we'd spend all out time in ipanema or copocobana.

Lovely arty decoration; really friendly and helpful owners; gorgeous view, patio and pool; brilliant location, especially for nightlife in Lapa. Sta Teresa is safe, beautiful, bohenmian and fun to potter about in. The hostel reflects all of that.

We travelled around the world and this was without doubt the best place we stayed! Excellent in every way, especially the kind hosts.

It was beautiful well-kept home which was very peaceful but not for party animals!

Beautiful house and Zaba and Manu, the owners, are very nice. Santa Teresa and Vila CasaNova are the perfect places to relax after a long day.

Super homely place, relative peaceful yet social atmosphere - not a place to party but to meet people, chat and if you feel like it, party outside, nice common spaces with superb views, wonderful couple who owns the place. Small enough for everybody to "know" each other.

Good location, clean, big rooms, friendly owners, good breakfast and facilities - a lovely place to stay!
7 February 2008
warm welcome, disponibility and helpful service & decoration

It's a great location for most of what you want to do in Rio. A real alternative to staying down by the beaches - which are all easily accessable from Santa Terresa by bus. I would describe this as quality B&B rather than a hostel, with knowledgable and welcoming hosts.

We loved Vila CasaNova - the guesthouse itself is beautiful and the owners are very friendly, full of information about the local area and the city in general and make you feel right at home. Santa Teresa feels very relaxed, not overrun with hostels and foreign tourists, and all the main sights of Rio are easily accessible.

The people whole own the hostel (Zaba and Manu) are lovely and very helpful. The hostel itself is very relaxing and beautifully set out.

The owners adobt a caring attitude to their guests, breakfast with them daily discussing daily schedules and offering advice to those who seek it. A nice place to stay.

Wonderful view of the city from Santa Teresa; beautiful neighborhood with great places to eat and go out within walking distance, and above all, great hosts.
