Good location - close to metro, buses, shopping mall and in a safe area. Otherwise, a fairly average experience - no private ensuite room for first 2 nights although we booked for this, intermittent hot shower, noisy courtyard outside room. They're renovating so hopefully this will make it all better.

The location was good, if you catch the bus make sure you tell the bus driver where you want to get off or he will drive right past. Nice rooms, typical Brasilian breakfast and very helpful staff

Safe and friendly place to stay and ideal location to get to all the sights. 2 of the showers upstairs were always cold, but the facitlies were ok overall, really nice staff.

location is very good although the closest beach isnt swimmable. the second closest beach however is not far away and is much less crowded than the big ones in town which arent long to get to either. the rooms are cool and the breakfast fills you up nicely. the owner was most helpful and informative, we remain grateful to her help with regards to future accommodation of our trip. this place is not far from lots of cool grafitti as well if youre into that sort of thing. and shiploads of juicestalls around here as well. defionately recommend this place and probably would give full marks if it werent for the fact that this is the first hostel i have been to in brazil, so cannot really compare to others.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpfull at the hostel, pointing us in the right direction and setting up groups to go out at night etc.

Excellent staff who were all very helpful & good fun too. Good central location where it's easy to get the metro or buses to all the sights. We always felt safe in the local area. Botafogo doesn't have much life night get a bus or taxi somewhere else.

The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful with advice and directions and spoke good to excellent English.
As soon as we mentioned the air-con in our room wasn't working Helena checked it and fixed it that day - very attentive to our needs and feedback.

The location is perfect and everything you might need is within 2 minutes walking distance. Accomodations are clean and tidy and staff are wonderful people, friendly and helpful. This is the best hostel I stayed so far and I'm very glad I found this place to close my trip. I really felt like home here and the place is very cosy. I fully recommend Alpha Hostel and I'm sure every backpacker like me will be amazed with what they get here. Great breakfast! Great carrot cake! . Good value for money, great people to stay with and the perfect location. Thanks to the staff, Helena, Leo, Gladys and Daniel, I will sure be back

the staff is great! they helped me in every way they could to get to the places I wanted and on top of that showed me other places to visit which were sensational.
the breakfast was also outstanding -- qhe owner served her own home made cakes which were delicious.
baths were always available and clean.
