Liked: The location was quite good in some ways - in a quiet area and it seemed quite safe too. I wasn't afraid to walk around at night on my own. It was also close to a metro station and 3 blocks from the main streets; good for the juice bars, banks, restaurants and buses. The apartments are basic but spacious and clean and you feel very safe, which is particularly nice for your first couple of nights in Rio, especially if you are on your own. The staff on the front desk were always helpful and also spoke good English. Internet access was handy and not particularly over-priced, though local internet shops are cheaper of course. I arrived late at night and they had no issues with me paying over the next couple of days. I got the impression I could have just paid at the end of my stay, so don't worry about having cash (they don't take cards) ready for your arrival. Also, I read another review that said you should pay in dollars as they will give you some random exchange rate to Reals. To be honest, I didn't find that an issue and, if you draw cash in Reals, you will lose out just as much in fees converting that to dollars anyway. Just pay in Reals - much easier. Better still, email beforehand to confirm your daily rate in Reals if you want to be sure. Having the apartment cleaned every day was nice, along with fresh towels, and the bed changed every 3 days was fine. Overall, I would recommend the Jucati apartments for the location, the safety, and the amount of space you have. That said, renting apartments (if that's what you want) from individuals through certain other websites, can be cheaper and get you something nicer too. Shop around. You do get a good rate through hostelbookers though - mine was 115 Reals per night compared with Jucati's own rate of 150.

Disliked: The central "atrium" if you like, of which all the apartments are off of, echoes a lot and can mean that you get a lot of noise if it is busy or people are less thoughtful. I stayed during August and it was fairly quiet but there were a couple of nights when there was a lot of noise. Likewise from next door or anyone above. The location, for the beach, was a bit of a pain. 5 blocks which, in flip flops etc, can be quite a pain. Depends how long you are staying perhaps.

Liked: The staff was so friendly and helpful. The place was clean like a mini hotel. Every day the room was cleaned and the towels and bars of soap were replaced. Those little things were really nice bonuses to the fact that the place was big and clean for what we paid.

Disliked: Not a great place to meet people as it is more like a quiet hotel. Good if you go with your own friends though or want quiet. Very safe and secure.

Liked: Very clean and pleasant surroundings. The fact it was an apartment was excellent, Rio is very expensive so the ability to be able to cook was great. Also they have filtered water in the kitchens so you can drink it!

Disliked: I just wish it had been in Ipanema and not Copacabana!

Liked: We stayed at Hostel Jucati during Carnaval time and it was perfect! Divided between 4 of us, the apartment was cheaper than booking 4 seperate beds in any other cheap hostel and it was a lot nicer having your own space! Good location, close to the beach but not a noisy area (even during Carnaval!!), so nice having air con and cleaned daily. If there is a group of you sharing the price, I would definitely recommend it.

Liked: Massive rooms like apartments, the girls that worked there were really helpful.however watch out for the 'bank of Jucatti' they quote you a price in dollars...then with the managers own personal exchange rate from dollars to brazilliand your paying an extra $60. when asked he said due to a small business he uses exchange rates from the black market? not official ones like banks do... so apart from being ripped off..great place to stay. pay in dollars so he cant mess with your quoted rate.

Liked: "Jucati" is a great place to stay! - Staff helped us out with literally everything. They are so well connected which came in handy several times! Thanks! :) It's basically like renting an apartment, which also means you don't get that "Hostel wibe", but all in all.. we had a fantastic stay..!!! I can def. recommend it!!! Very nice location.. Sweet place! :)

Liked: I loved the friendly, helpful staff. They made us feel truly welcome. The apartment we got was wonderful, clean, and spacious. The location was very convenient, a short walk to the beach, subway, supermarket, and tons of other great stuff.

Liked: To stay here is quite expensive (cheaper if you book through hostelbookers) and the price of the trips they offer seem to be slightly higher than other backpacker hostels in the area. The appartments are amazing though and the staff are really nice. Not the place if you are on a budget but a great place to stay otherwise.

Liked: most of the staff @ the reception was very cooperative and friendly. a guy was very committed helping us with finding and booking a jeep-tour around rio...the city is marvelous - however: most of the time while walking around copacabana (during day - at night we preferred to take a cab) you have the feeling that crime is lurking around at almost every corner. so dress down and enjoy your stay but keep a sharp eye... it's a city where you shouldn't make your way thoughtlessly...the hostel itself is a great place - our room was big and comfortable. we just had problems with the shower because the water was cold... hint: turn it on steady and at the begining just a little bit and it will work out fine...We personally didn't feel all-too comfortable that rooms have to be paid in advance. We normally are used to pay at check out but everything worked out well...all in all - reasonable and recommendable accommodation

Liked: The excellent things about this hostel are WIFI in our room. English speaking TV channels, Discovery, Universal, History, News, Large fridge, cooking facilities, spacious, quiet location but close to supermarket, metro, buses. Showers are electric and hot at any time if you have a low flow rate. Safe in office for valuables.Not so good things were threadbare linen, the rooms are not cleaned at weekends, no hot taps or plugs in sinks.

Liked: Large clean apartments. Great bathrooms and very spacious. Good location, 10 mins walk to Copacabana beach. Helpful staff. No real communal area for meeting other travellers- more serviced apartments then hostel but overall great stay
