Disliked: Location - quite far away from the beach and a lack of local places to eat out, cleanliness could be improved

Liked: AC! Nice and clean. Nice staff.

Disliked: The location is really the main bad thing. Just far from everything. Also a bit lacking in the atmosphere..

Liked: Fantastic place.. owners are friendliest people we ever met! Stayed here during carnaval and they put on free BBQ´s on a weekly basis with loads of free food, people playing music and singing, and others having fun in the hot tub. They are eager to help, and everyone that stays here becomes a friendly family - one of the best hostels I´ve stayed at in Rio - definitely book it!

Disliked: Not much, was a great place!

Liked: Nice communal atmosphere. Very good breakfast.

Disliked: Small kitchen which closed early. Small communal areas. Thinnest of thin mattresses. Not miles from everything but a fair hike to hotspots.

Disliked: Not as clean and tidy as expected. Towells and sheets were dirty, floors and bathroom were dirty as well...

Liked: This place had the perfect mix of backpackers, travelers, and tourists! The staff was super friendly too. The place felt like home and it was in a very convenient and safe location. highly recommended!

Liked: The bulding is kind of old, but that´s more a brazilian characteristic.. But it´s a pretty good hostel in general..

Disliked: They should be more strict about their hosts repsecting things in the fridge..

Liked: Friendly and helpful staff, relaxed fell about the place and cosy lounge.

Disliked: I got bit by something, and because it was the third hostel in South America i experienced this in, i checked out the next day and moved to another one just in case.

Liked: The atmosphere was really fantastic,like home, the staff was so helpful, the location is good, safe and secure. I met travelers like me and was wonderful. Now, I'm going to travel around Brazil, but when I come back to Rio, I already know where i will stay.

Disliked: Nothing -I would like that every hostels where I will stay were like this.

Liked: Friendly reception staff, but only one of them had a little English.

Disliked: Not very close to anything. Room very basic for price.

Liked: The owners are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

Disliked: Kitchen cleanliness left a lot to be desired, bathroom wasn´t far behind. Lock on the bedroom door was almost impossible to reopen once locked.

Liked: I would definetly recommend the place! Lagoa Guesthouse is very, very welcoming. The owners and the stuff create a warm atmosphere for everyone that arrives. The Location doesn't seem to be that perfect, but it is actually easy to get anywhere with the buses just outdoors. When I was there we had a group of interesting and fun people and everyone enjoyed the place, the breakfast and the dinner that they cooked (Feijoada)!

Liked: All the staff are so kind, welcoming and helpfull- they really make you feel at home. The hostel has a really laid back and homely atmosphere- we met some great people and staying here made my carnival experience really good!

Disliked: Maybe not enough showers when the hostel is fully booked.

Liked: This is an amazing hostel, easily the most fun hostel I've stayed in, with a great mix of ages and people from all over the world - the main reason it is so good is the staff, they were unbelievaly helpful as staff but also great fun and lovely, genuine people to socialise with. It feels more like you are staying in their house than in a hostel. The atmosphere rubs off on everyone who is staying which makes for a fun and really friendly atmosphere. Also the nights out which were recommended were all spot on and the barbecues are pretty tasty as well.

Disliked: Nothing really - beds are surprisingly comfy and the facilities are fine for what you pay for

Liked: the staff was great!! Juliana and Wes made me feel at home. Felt more like staying w/ friends/family instead of me paying to stay there. The other travelers were awesome. Definitely made some life long friends.

Liked: Staff is very helpful and kind. Property is charming and located in a very quite area. The hostel is well connected to the Ipanema beach.

Disliked: Just the bunk bed for three: it isn't very comfortable...
