Liked: Stay here a great place for single travellers. I was nervous about being in Rio on my own, but Beach Backpackers is a great place. REALLY FRIENDLY atmosphere and the staff cant do enough to help you. Great breakfast clean hostel and I felt safe leaving my things there. Good location. Definatly recomend it to everyone. Have fun :) Also great tours on offer from here and excellent city information on sights from staff.

Liked: everything is clean , it~s just the dishes, sometimes they look ... anyway, i will clean it myself before using it. the staffs here are helpful, Burno, and David, they are awesome! they will try to help you out, just ask them!

Liked: Beautiful hostel, very clean, great very helpfull staff. They are offering tours, and the staff helps you in any question. The breakfeast is very good, with fresh fruit. Good place to meet other travellers. The beach to reach in 20 min by metro.

Liked: Staff in particular - the ladies were both very helpful and friendly. Particularly the coloured lady. She seemed very polite honest and genuine. If it wasn't for her then I would have rated this property lower so most of the credit should go to her. When I asked for help she would go out of her way to make me feel welcome. The other lady also provided good advice and assistance.

Disliked: The male staff member on duty at night, was no-where near as helpful as the girls. He seemed afraid to do anything in case it broke any rules with the owner/s and he made a point of saying this each time. One example - he advised the one towel could not be changed for one whole week, which I felt was unacceptable. He spoilt my experience a little.

Liked: The hostel is small and nice. There is A LOT of tips and helpful info hanging on the walls. The stuff is friendly, speak good English and helpful. The room we stayed in was quite (no noise from the street and from traffic!! this is rare in Rio!). On the first day we stayed there there was a free barbeque for guests (very good!). I personaly liked the big dog who lives in this hostel but if you are alergic to dogs you should know that there is one! The location is ok, Sugar Loaf is very near, metro station is near and the neighbourghood is good to stay in.

Disliked: We booked a private room, but there was no private room on our arrival. This problem was solved, though: we were given a private room with 10 beds for just the 2 of us! :) For me it was even better, but if you like to have what you asked for, you maybe should send them an email and remind of your arrival to make sure everything is ok or smth. The breakfast is no good at all. No variety, plastic cups and plates, the kitchen is not very clean.

Liked: Really nice staff, free wifi, Safe neighborhood. God breakfast

Disliked: Its a bit far to Copacabana (30 min by walk), but its a nice beach close by. They have laundry service, your not able to use the washing machines.

Liked: It was the best hostel I've been to so far in my Latin America trip. It's clean and organized. The staff was helpful and my room was pretty confortable. Near the metro, easy to get to the beaches.

Disliked: Happy hours is only from 7pm to 8pm...

Liked: The place is very very friendly and cozy. Nice breakfast and a very cute dog!!! Many great free services (wifi, bedsheets, towels, lockers...). I recommend it!

Liked: Everything was fine in the hostel. Especially the staff has been always helpful and ready to give useful suggestions.

Disliked: the twin room is with bunk beds and really not very confortable, it was hot during the night and even the window was not a proper one. Anyway it was quite clean.

Liked: This hostel was my the best experience so far. Staff is very friendly and looking forward to help with lots of information about where to go or what to do. My room was very clean and with a nice bathroom. Outside area is really good to have a caipirina and surf on the internet. Breakfast is tasty and location is very suitable to get to now the city and enjoy good bars and shops walking distance. The Botafogo beach gets busy at night but metro is next door and takes you to other beaches in 5 minutes wich is really nice.

Disliked: Dvd player was not working :/ but staff took care of it!

Liked: Staff was really nice and helpful, easy to get to the touristic things and close to the main beaches. Nice bathrooms and the room I was put in had enough space and good air circulation. Cleaners were always making sure everything was on order. I was very pleased with the happy hour and the delicous caipirinas they make!!

Liked: The staff was great, very helpful and friendly! Great atmosphere, good breakfast, very useful city guides, close to the bus stops and metro, and not too far away from the beaches and attractions. Had a great time!!

Disliked: We couldn't pay with credit card as was advertised, and there were some bed bugs, but the room was disinfected soon after we informed them, so it wasn't really an issue.

Liked: Good breakfast, very helpful staff, lots of valuable information all over the walls, like how to see tourist attractions without doing the tours. Good price of food and drinks

Disliked: The couches and kitchen are crawling with bugs. I got eaten alive from sitting on the couches, gross. The kitchen also has bugs everywhere. There are 2 toilets and 3 showers.... Redicullious for the amount of people staying here, not to mention they were doing construction the entire time so one bathroom was out of order. Bedrooms are hot and very crowded.

Liked: Girls on reception were nice and trying hard. Dog was cute. Nice breakfast.

Disliked: Just don't bother booking a 'private room' - they are not worth the money. Tiny, horrible, no windows at all, except one right at the top of the wall (10 feet up) with no glass. Plus the rooms are off the shower/washing machine area so it's constantly busy 3 feet from your head when you lie down. No air con, 3 x broken fans, mouldy bedding, door only opens 30cm as the room is so small, nowhere to put clothes, when we were there there were people on mattresses in the halls, on the floors of dorms, and in the lounge. Only 2 toilets and 2 showers for 50 people.

Liked: The kitchen was very clean and nice, had everything you could ever think of.. The staff was very friendly and helpful with everything.. The hostel dog Charlie was cute :)

Disliked: The 12 pers dorm was not my favourite.. The size of the room was actually ok - but it smelled like a window had never been opened to let in some fresh air.. During night it was REALLY hot and the two fans constantly on was so noisy it sometimes made it difficult to fall a sleep.. Two washrooms upstairs were often really dirty - but the hostels gueste definitely bare some of the guilt for that throwing toiletpaper beside the bin etc... One night I acutally saw a cockroach in one of the washrooms!!..

Disliked: The double room I was in didn't have any natural light windows. The bathrooms were always clean but they didn't seem enough.
