Liked: Location is great right near the beach, hostel is clean, good bar downstairs. Staff are okay but not overly friendly.

Disliked: The kitchen is only open for guest use between 3-6pm and even then you are made to feel that you´re not meant to be in there. With Rio being so expensive, we were planning to cook as much as possible to save cash, no such luck. Also they add on a R$5 charge for internet use to your bill, whether you want to use it or not.

Disliked: The bathroom was filthy, This is definately a party hostel. If you dont want to party dont come here. very very noisy..

Liked: Brilliant hostel, great location with a good breakfast. Rooms were clean and spacious and there was lots going on to get involved with if you wanted to. The ONLY downside to this hostel is a particlur member of staff who is both rude and unhelpful. There is clearly a problem with the booking system as my boyfriend and I were put into different rooms, I was put in a 10 man dorm and was the only girl! This I can get over but (and I don't usually name and shame) the blonde girl on reception was so rude and unhelpful. When we asked on our third night if any other beds had become available so we could be togther she SHOUTED no and acted like we were absolute idiots. She then failed to tell me I was meant to be switching rooms(still not with my bf), I only found out through another staff member while enquiring about a day trip!!! Other friends found the blonde to be equally unhelpful and she spent most of her time on facebook. Such a shame as everyone else is the hostel was so lovely! I highly recommend this hostel but avoid the blonde! Definitely do the city tour, it's brilliant!

Disliked: The particular member of staff as mentioned. Also the security isnt great, anyone can come in.

Liked: Nice location.

Disliked: After staying in over 100 hostels traveling for a year, this was the worst experience of all. Coming back in the middle of night to find they had given my bed to someone else and made me stay in a different room with no belongings. Absolutely DISGRACEFUL - DON'T STAY HERE!

Liked: Really good atmosphere and very friendly clientele.

Disliked: Teh booking system is an absolute joke. I stayed there for a total of 12 nights and stayed in 5 different rooms where I had to keep moving as they mucked my booking up.

Liked: the location is brilliant so close to the beach and some good cheap places to eat. the staff are brilliant, so informative and friendly including tony the great barman. they also have tours on offer and nights out including the brilliant lapa street party on a friday and the great open bar on the wednesday. breakfast is also good for a big hostel like this....great cake!

Liked: Very friendly and cool staff! Great activities. Good location for going to the Ipanema beach, but far from other stuff

Disliked: Kitchen was good, but it was very bad that we could only use it for 3 h per day. The computers were busy most of the time, and we had to pay for it even if we didn't get much chance to use them

Liked: Very friendly and helpful staff, great hostel to meet other travellers when you travel on your own. There is always a big group having dinner together and going out together.

Liked: Great location, safe area. Friendly, helpful staff. Plenty of tours on offer.

Disliked: Dorms were a bit cramped, probably get quite hot in the summer.

Liked: It was clean, good location, awesome breakfast! A great hostel if you traveling in a group. .

Disliked: I wouldnt recommend this hostel for a person traveling alone since its quite difficult to meet other people there since it hasnt got much common area. It had a really small, bad equipped kitchen that was only allowed to use between 15-18 ( so pretty useless) and they didnt have safe luggage storage.

Liked: Pretty much everything, the staff were excellent.

Disliked: Having to wait at the bar for a long time to get a drink. The staff who were working were excellent, but I felt that the bar was under-staffed particularly as many people order cocktails and it is unfortunate that these take awhile to make.

Liked: Apparently a party hostel, though doesn't have that much space to party, common room is very basic and doesn't have much space, kitchen doesn't invite to cook either, breakfast ok, staff wasn't very helpful, bathrooms ensuite are basic but clean... well I've seen much nicer hostels... but if you want to be close to the beach good value.

Liked: Friendly staff, excellent location! Not very clean, and many things were out of order (air conditioner, elevator, shower). Anyway, is a good place to stay!
