Liked: Close to metro and within walking distance of sugarloaf mountain and the beaches. It had a pool table.

Disliked: Everything had to be paid for including internet. The laundry service was very expensive (about R$20 per small wash). The free wifi worked only sometimes. The brazilian staff were only friends to the brazilian guests. The tours that were offered were overpriced. The airconditioner is on during the night making it very cold.

Liked: not too expensive

Disliked: Not very clean, extremely noisy; the TV and radio stay on all night, and since some of the dorms don't even have glass in their windows this keeps you up at night. The male showers don't have a wall in between them (come on, how much does a piece of wood cost?) which means no privacy. Bathroom in general was not very clean. We booked a private twin but were instead placed in a 4-person dorm no bigger than my closet with no way of putting two beds together. When we booked the "upscale private" for the next day there was not much upscale about it, just a very simple room, but for quite a hefty price.

Liked: Nice location.

Disliked: - The bathroom is unclean. - Though it´s a hostel, please respect the little privacy within the dorms and keep a quiet hour.. - Please maintain some sanity! A cheap and friendly hostel does not have to advertise for a free-sex community. Some might like it, others won´t.

Liked: the location is excellent.

Disliked: The matress was rather hard. The TV didn't work properly. The room was rather bleak and had no window to the outside. That for 100 Reales. It was not possible to pay with credit card. No jam for breakfast, just sausage and cheese. That was surprising. Even the cheapest places I've been to, had jam for breakfast. While the staff was very friendly, they seemed unwilling to improve on the shortcomings.

Liked: Great location, and one of the best prices you'll find in Rio anywhere. For travelers with no money, this is fantastic. Also, the staff was wonderful.

Disliked: A bit unclean.

Liked: location is really good, 30 seconds from the mtro that takes you to copapcabana in less than 10 mins door to door, and the bus to lapa is 2 blocks away. very safe and secure hostel and no wonder they won the best staff award everyone who worled there could not have been more friendly and helpfull, the best i have seen in over a year of travelling. the kitchen has an OVEN!!

Disliked: kitchen closed on sunday

Liked: location pretty good.

Disliked: Really dirty. The bar smells of urine and the dorm was over air-conditioned with no windows. The bathroom was filthy and only half the showers worked. Staff not helpful. Really dingy. I never go on here to rate but seriously, after staying in hostels 10yrs + this was the worst place I ever stayed.

Liked: bar and pool table!!! Good nights sleep, some caipirinhas and shoot some pool with my outrageously good looking girlfriend..what more could a man want? Lovely place..nice atmosphere..nice tv room also..

Liked: This was our first hostel on a 1 year trip travelling around south america and it exceeded all our expectations. The staff were very helpful and it was a great atmosphere. Very clean, great beds & free showers & kitchen. We were even invited to a street party with one of the staff members on the last night in Santa Teresa - somewhere that we would not have gone to otherwise!

Disliked: The balcony at the front is having some repair work so we couldnt sit out but it really was~t a problem (unless you want to stay in the hostel and chainsmoke all day - and even this you can do out the balcony window)

Liked: Great and safe neighbourhood! Just beside a bus stop with many choices to get around Rio! Friendly and helpful staff. Clean, great matresses, simple breakfast.

Disliked: Walls are a bit thin so could hear next door snoring and the shower water was not hot enough but bearable.

Liked: Cheap. Showers were decent. Free wifi

Disliked: Very noisy until VERY late. Mattress and pillow was ROCK HARD. Room stank. Breakfast was average. Had to pay for towels

Liked: The location

Disliked: When we arrived at the hotel, we had made the mistake of booking only one private room instead of two. The staff-already not very nice-made us realize our mistake. We asked if they had a private room of 4 people and they said they could not change our reservation. Since the price are more interesting with your website he told us to book another room online. Which we did. So we had 2 private rooms for 2 people. However the rooms did not match the description given on the website. Each room could sleep 4 people, so we did not need to book a second room in the first place! The person of the staff did not say anything, he let us pay online even though I had asked for a room for 4 people! How very dishonest of him. I explained this to him. He left us in the room, without giving us the keys. When I went back to the reception he was chatting online with the manager whom I had asked to speak to. He said she would be there online by night (it was around 1PM) and he didn't know if he could give me the key to the room. He suggested that he might throw us out of the hotel!!! In the end we negociated the price of 4 beds in a private dorm room - which was what it looked like. The man was very rude to us during all our stay. We paid 60 Real for a basket of laundry (around 30 euros)!!!!!!! In the dorm rooms you have to pay for the AC during the day. It is a shame that the hotel does not respect the website.

Liked: Free wifi

Disliked: The location was not good for Carnival. I paid for a room with air con, but it only came on during the night when we were out, I expoected air con all day if we were in the room. The room was tiny for 6 people and their bags.

Liked: Not much

Disliked: Tiny room, no space for your bags, and lockers not big enough for your bag, I had to literally sleep with my backpack at the foot of my bed. The staff were less than friendly and not helpful at all. The bar ran out of most alcohol other than beer from the first night and didnt even bother to top uo the whole time I was there. Bathroom was awful!!!! Dont stay here!!!!!!!!!!

Liked: After traveling for 7 Months this was our last hostel and it was the best, they were so friendly and very helpful they helped us organize some tours for our stay. great area close to supermarket, sub way and a large shopping center, easy to get to Copacabana on the train. anyway yea just really enjoyed our stay

Liked: almost had a calamity when we didnt extend on hostelbookers (full price was twice as much) after an understanding with a staff member - the manager did a wonderful job to understand and appease us, which i really appreciate. good location for botafogo but its no copacabana

Disliked: kitchen was closed on sunday - prefer dirty to shut!

Liked: not much

Disliked: Still sick from my stay. Too small a rooms for as many people that are in them. No AC or air ventilation on 37 degree night. Really stale air. Overall a pretty poor place. Avoid if possible
