Liked: the location, only 3 blocks from the Beach and the mattrass

Disliked: This Hostel is far to expensive. Here are the facts: Small Beer at the Bar which closes at 10:30 = 3,50 Reais Caipirinha = 7 Reais (in a trendy bar in Ipanema you can get a better and bigger caipi for 7,5!! Laundry = 20 Reais!! Shower after having checked out = 15 Reais !! incredible If you have any problems, you can not talk to the Owner, he is not available, not even by phone. You have to send him an email. And make sure that you pay afterwards, what happened to me was, i booked a 6 bed room and actually there were 7 Beds in a pretty small Room! of course they did not change the price... Oh ya, do not order a taxi from the Hostel, just walk down to the main street, for half of the price Never again!!

Liked: Nice hostel in a safe area of Copacabana that's fairly close to the beach and right by a metro station, monkeys in the trees right behind it, good dorms with AC, comfy sofas and beanbags in the common area with a huge TV and decent movie library. Breakfast was pretty good and went from 9.00-12.00, hangover-friendly checkout time of 12.00 was a bonus. Friendly and efficient reception staff were always good.

Disliked: There were problems with the wifi on both of our stays at the hostel - always annoyingly slow and sometimes not working at all - nothing like the 20mb speed they say. The R$15 charge for a shower after checkout is too much even if it does include a fresh towel, and R$20 to use the clothes washer/dryer is a lot.

Liked: NIce and clean and only two blocks to Copacabana beach, 30mins walk to Sugerloaf and Metro station nearby.

Disliked: The bar and dinning room area are closed at 10:30pm which limits socialising and meeting new people.

Liked: Great communal areas and massive tv with couches

Disliked: My room was on the top floor, as was the common living area so it was noisy all the time and there was a constuction site nearby with lost of early banging every morning

Liked: Great location and really helpful staff.

Disliked: Bathrooms weren't cleaned often enough. Got bitten by heaps of mosquitos or bed bugs at night (at least 50 bites on one night!)

Liked: Good place to meet people, handy location, individual reading lights in each bunk, generally quite clean, very good breakfast., safe

Disliked: Not very welcoming, no explanation as to where facilities etc were located on arrival for example. Some staff were better than others- but some ppl on reception were very unforthcoming with local knowledge and info in general. If info was provided it was usually a push to book services through them - in the case of a favela tour for instance , this added 10reals to the price, which is shameful given that that particular tour funds a local school in one of the favelas.

Disliked: This hostel has bed bugs. I was severely attacked and so were several other people. The staff did nothing about this apart from let me move room (to a cheaper larger dorm but gave me no refund). They also continued to let people stay in the infected room.

Liked: SO SO CLEAN! Bathrooms were even cleaned twice daily!!! Wicked place to meet people. Close to the beach and especially the subway. Good cocktails, spacious air-conditioned rooms. Brilliant brakfasts.

Liked: Building has a bit of historic character with dark wood throughout and an amazing social room upstairs. A great Hostel.

Disliked: No complaints.

Liked: Very good location for Copacabana. Good for single travellers.

Disliked: Not suitable for couples - a twin ensuite room means very cramped room with a bunk bed.

Liked: The place really has a great atmosphere. I enjoyed my stay very much. It was even better than I expected.

Disliked: The breakfast could have had more choices (no cheese etc.).

Liked: Very helpful stuff, besides Sylvia the most beautiflul stuff I ever had :)Bar with Happy Hour, one of the best caipis in town, thanks Mya!Perfect location for lonely travellers to meet people. Good Kitchen, Bar area, TV-Room and clean rooms.

Disliked: After a long night the way up to the hostel is very exhausting ;)

Liked: The Free internet access,the seating area up stairs with big bean bags and a good t.v. channel choice and the breakfeast

Disliked: The disorganisation of the room allocation,we had to move all three days we were there to different types of dorms. Staff could have been a bit more informative about things to do and see in Rio. A group atmosphere wasnt faciliated to its full potential

Liked: Great base camp to explore Zona Sul, just a 5 minute walk from Copacabana! Friendly english-speaking staff and caipirinha happy hour between 7.30 and 8.30! Good place to meet people! Go partying in Lapa Friday night. Period!

Disliked: Nothing really!
